Magheracloone Notes

July 3rd, 2011

Magheracloone G.A.A.

County Board. The members of the Magheracloone club were delighted to host the July meeting of the County Board on Monday evening. The Board is continuing its policy of rotating the venue for its meetings and the club was very happy to welcome both officers and delegates. The comment is sometimes made that decisions are being made at the other end of the county but on this occasion the decisions were made in Magheracloone. This can no longer be said and indeed the clubs look forward to hosting many more meetings in the years to come.

Senior Teams. The Senior league resumed on Friday evening with a trip to Ballybay.  It was a fruitless journey for Magheracloone as the points went to Ballybay. With the championship only three weeks away the team will feel that some work has to be done if the championship season is to be successful.  The team has a chance to get things right with two league games over the next couple of weeks. Inniskeen are the visitors on Saturday 9th with a seven o’clock throw-in followed by a game versus Clontibret on the following Sunday.

Championship Games.  Both senior teams will be in championship action over the next three weeks. The Reserve team is in the semi-final of the O’Duffy Cup and  will travel to Truagh to face the locals on the 13th July with a 7.30 start.

Then the senior championship begins for Magheracloone on Sunday 24th when their game with Truagh is part of a double- header in Clontibret. Magheracloone’s game begins at 6.00 and the travelling fans will be hoping to see a winning start in the quest foe senior honours.

Juvenile News.

The U-14 competition continues on Saturday 16th July with a visit to Clontibret. The game will throw in at 1.15 in the afternoon.

Under 16 and Minor.  The U-16 team play Clontibret at home on Thursday 7th while the U-14 team are away to the same opposition on the 16th July.

Cul Camps. Magheracloone will host the annual Cul Camp from July 25th to July 29th in the local grounds. This excellent camp is open to boys and girls from ages 5 to 13. The cost is 55 euro for the first child in a family, 50 euro for the second and 45 for the third. To book your place, please contact Shirley Marron at 087 9458755.
