Drumhowan Notes

July 18th, 2011

Intermediate Championship

Drumhowan 0-5  Rockcorry 0-10

We bowed out tamely from the Intermediate Championship on Sunday evening last in Aughnamullan.  This was a game that we never really looked liked winning against a keener and all round better Rockcorry side.  Our focus of attention now must be avoiding relegation.  Are plenty of matches left and the challenge facing management and the players is turning our season around to avoid the dreaded drop.  The team on duty on Sunday last was:  Enda Duffy, Dermot Mooney, Paddy Duffy, Mark O’Neill, Darren Duffy(0-1), Niall Mooney, Damien Mooney, Dermot McDermott (0-1), Anthony Mulligan, Damien Duffy, Kevin Mooney(0-1), Christopher McGinnity(0-1), Patrick Mulligan, Liam McGuirk, Kieran Mooney.

Our U-12 team, with victories over Scotstown and the Harps, play Latton on Thursday 11th August for a place in the final.  In preparation, the team management has arranged a challenge match against Doohamlet on Monday next 25th at the latter’s venue.  Throw in is at 6.30pm and all players should be in Doohamlet by 6.00pm.

Meanwhile our U-14s lie 3rd in the table with three games remaining against Rockcorry, Inniskeen and Killeevan.  A place in the semi-final is within reach and hopefully these talented youngsters will deliver.

Juvenile Training

Training for both U-12s and U-14s continues on Monday and Thursday nights at 6.30pm.  All players are required to attend.

Croke Park Activity Day

Congratulation to three of our U-12 team, Finbarr Brennan, Colm McMahon and Tom McGuirk, who graced the holy ground of Croke Park on Tuesday last by participating in the Croke Park Activity Day.  Lets hope it is the first of many appearances for these youngsters on the famous sod.
