Doohamlet Notes

July 12th, 2011

Doohamlet GFC

Seniors:  Monaghan Harps   5-13  Doohamlet  2-13

Doohamlet travelled to Monaghan last Saturday evening to play the local Harps side and without goalkeeper James Casey, Colin Walshe and Darren Connolly through injury put up a very good display and despite the score line could leave taken something from this game.

Doohamlet got off to a dream start when Shane McManus netted after good work from Niall Connolly but the Harps replied with a fortuitous goal after a mix up in the Doohamlet defence.  Doohamlet then dominated for long spells with Ciaran McManus, Stephen Gilsenan and Ted Duffy all on target but Harps kept in touch with two goals.  Niall J. Connolly was causing havoc at corner forward and closed the half with a goal and point to leave the halftime score level 2-06 to 3-03.

Harps began the second half with goal number 3 right from throwin and dominated the third quarter.  Doohamlet rallied late in the game with Ted Duffy tapping over five points and Mark Murphy two to reduce the lead but with goal chances falling to both sides it was Harps who were more clinical in front of goal and this proved crucial in the final score.  Harps 5-13    Doohamlet  2-13
