Clontibret Hurling Notes 5th July 2011

 

Seniors: We came away with a draw in the first round of the senior championship against Carrickmacross on Sunday past on a score-line of 1-9 a piece. There were some excellent performances on the day especially from some of our championship debutants and we had our opportunity to come away with a win. The replay is scheduled for next Tuesday in Inniskeen at 7.30.

We take on Carrick in the league this evening (Thursday) at home with the throw in at 7.45, followed by an away game to Inniskeen on Thursday week (14th July) at 7.45.

 

Under 16s: obtained the points in the first round of the league on Monday past when Carrick conceded the game. Next game is at home to Castleblayney on Monday next at 8pm

 

Under 12s: the game against Carrick fixed for Monday evening has been rescheduled until a later date. Next game is at home to Castleblayney on Monday at 6.45

 

Clontibret

Senior League

Clontibret 2-10, Doohamlet 0-10. Two first half goals by Conor McManus and Ryan McGuigan proved the difference in this closely contested local derby. Team and scorers: Paul McElroy, Colin Duffy, Martin Corey (0-1), Pauric Boyle, Donal Carragher, Paul McGuigan, Darach Mooney, Colum Greenan, Daithi McKeown, Rodney Gorman, Conor McManus (1-5, 0-2 frees), David Savage (0-1), Fergal Mone (0-2), Vincent Corey, Ryan McGuigan (1-1). Subs: Johnny McKenna, Eoin McGuigan.

Reserve League Division 1

Clontibret 0-11, Truagh 1-8. We were behind for much of the game but a good rally at the end brought us back to a point up before Truagh levelled with the last kick. Team and scorers: Arthur Morgan, Fergal McGuigan, Kevin Ward, Kieran Greenan, Eoin McGuigan, Donal Carragher, Sean Leonard, Daithi McKeown, Fergal Greenan (0-1), Ronan Murphy, David Savage (0-1), Fergal O’Dowd (0-1), Ryan McGuigan (0-2), Johnny McKenna (0-6 frees), Paul Winters. O’Duffy Cup Quarter Final

We played ‘Blayney in the O’Duffy Cup quarter final yesterday evening, Wednesday. Result next week.

Minor Championship

Clontibret 2-6, Harps 0-14. We played Scotstown in the league on Tuesday gone by, result next week. On Tuesday 19th next we take on St. Patrick’s in the minor championship

Crawley Cup

The semi-final of the Crawley Cup against Blackhill will take place tomorrow evening, Friday in Clontibret at 7.30pm.

U16 League

Donaghmoyne conceded the game at half time to give us two more league points. We are away to Magheracloone this evening at 7.30pm. The following match is at home to Seans on Thursday, 21st July.

Ulster Final Tickets

Anyone wishing to order Ulster Final tickets should place their order with the club secretary or chairman before tomorrow, Friday at 12pm.

Recreational Tournament

Phelim Brady’s beat Madden and Clontibret beat the Harps last Saturday evening to set up a Shield final pairing of Clontibret against Phelim Brady’s.

The Cup semi-finals, Shercock against Killeevan and Scotstown against Truagh were played on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The Shield Final, Clontibret v Phelim Brady’s will be played this Saturday at 6pm and will be followed by the Cup Final at 7.30pm.
