DRUMHOWAN CLUB NOTES 6.6.11

McGuigan Builders IFC

Our much-anticipated encounter with near neighbours, Aughnamullan, in the 2011 Intermediate Championship takes place on Saturday evening next in Inniskeen.  The form of our senior squad has been less than impressive in the league so far, although recent results would suggest that the corner has been turned.  Saturday’s match is likely to be a real cliffhanger, with both sides anxious to pull one over the other.  Injury worries still surround a number of our players but hopefully team management will have a full squad to pick from for the first time this year.  Aughnamullan will fancy their chances as they ran us close two years ago and will be hoping to gain the upper hand on this occasion.  Throw in is at 7.45, with the curtain raiser being provided by Killanny and Toome in the Junior Football Championship. Throw-in in this match is at 6.15pm.

Platinum Tanks O’Duffy

Our reserves had a well deserved win over a fancied Corduff side in the O’Duffy Cup, played in Drumhowan on Wednesday evening last.  We suffered a very heavy defeat against the same opposition earlier in the season and it is a mark of the manner in which this team, under the stewardship of Gerry, Brendan and Martin, has progressed in the meantime. Well done to all concerned, particularly to the players, who responded so magnificently to the challenge.  Team: Mark McCabe, Paddy Markey, Mark O’Neill, Barry McGuirk, Damian Mooney, Dermot Mooney, Conor Duffy, Mark Quinn, Kevin Quinn, Patrick Mulligan, Kieran McElroy, Michael Atkinson, James Mulligan, Kieran Deery, Ronan Duffy.

Sponsorship

Our thanks to Coleen Millar for her generous sponsorship of a set of bags for the team on Sunday.  Lets hope the players can return a huge dividend by progressing to the to the next round of the championship.

Under 8’s Go Games Blitz

The U8’s Go Games Blitz takes place in Doohamlet on Saturday morning next 11th June.  All children between the ages of 6 and 8, both boys and girls, should be in Doohamlet pitch by 9.40.  The games will be finished and the children ready for collection by 11.45.
