Doohamlet Notes

June 28th, 2011

Doohamlet GFC

Seniors: Doohamlet play our fellow parishioners Clontibret tomorrow night Friday at O’Neill Park.  After halting our recent losing sequence last time out against Inniskeen,  Doohamlet will be hoping to gain valuable league points with this home fixture.

Fund Raising: In the current economic climate Doohamlet GFC are trying to raise funds and have come up with the novel idea of collecting any scrap metal copper or any old batteries.  Club member will be calling to all houses in the locality over the coming weeks so if any one has any of the above material we will be only too glad to collect and hopefully raise much needed funds.

Juveniles: O’Neill Park was awash with colour on Saturday morning 11th June, when we played host to Under 8 Go Games. In total we had 8 visiting clubs with a total of 12 teams, with a team each from Ballybay, Corduff, Drumhowan, Inniskeen, Aughnamullen, Toome and two teams each  from Cremartin  and Killany as well as our own under 8’s having 2 teams. This was a great occasion for our youngsters with some great matches on the day, played in glorious sunshine.  Thanks to Paul O’ Connor who helped set up the field and to all the referees and anyone else who helped in anyway to make the day a success.  During the summer training will continue for under 8’s and 10’s as usual on Wednesday evenings 5.30-6.30pm sharp. Please note there are a number of jersey’s missing from the under 10 set, with TD Freight on the front, could parents please check if they have these and return to any juvenile coach ASAP.

Under 12: Our under 12 summer league has begun with speed, with 3 matches having been played in 6 days. We defeated Castleblayney at St. Mary’s Park in a tough match on Thursday  16th June. We were then beaten by Inniskeen at their  venue on Saturday morning June 18th, and the match only two days previous could still be seen in tired legs. Tuesday June 21st Clontibret were our visitors and the won this match by 2 points. Our next match is this Saturday 2nd July,12pm,at home v Magheracloone.  As training continues throughout the summer for under 12’s&14’s, all players are urged to be in attendance please.

Blotto: Our weekly Blotto has been at €10,000 for some time and some is going to strike it lucky.  This is our only source of income at present and PJ Meehan and his loyal collectors are collecting envelopes every week.  Remember if you’re not in you can’t win.  Envelopes only €2.

Last weeks Results:  No Jackpot winner, number drawn 2, 1, 6, 4, 5, 3, 7.  Lucky dip winners were Jim Connolly, Cornamuckla; Paul Casey, Doohamlet; Rosie Hughes, Oghill; Erin McArdle, Devlin; Chloe McQuaid c/o Agnes Duffy, Eurotech.
