Seniors played Seans on Wednesday of last week and were beaten by 3 points. Aughnamullen went in at the break ahead by a point, 0-6 to 0-5, with Lauren Ward registering (0-3,2f) Chris Keenan with a point from play, Thomas Finnegan with a fine solo effort and Mark Meegan with a brilliant long range free from all of 50 yards. Aughnamullen could of been further in front as they were awarded a penalty in the early stages but a fine save from the Seans keeper denied Chris Keenan. In the second half Seans dominated for long periods outscoring the home side by 8-4. with Lauren Ward (0-2f), Mark Mc Ardle and Sean Sheridan on target for the home side. With 7 minutes to go Aughnamullen had the game back level at 10 apiece but Seans kicked on and hit 3 unanswered points to win and put Aughnamullen into the relegation zone. Reserves played away to Truagh on Friday last in the Championship and were defeated on a scoreline of Aughnamullen 1-8, Truagh 0-12. Team and scorers: Niall Mc Shane, Alan Sheridan, Ciaran Mooney, Emmet Fealy, Damian Mc Connell, Brian Mc Connell, Stephen Hamilton, Brendan Finnegan, Thomas Finnegan, James Keenan, Eddie Mc Ardle (0-4), Patrick Sheridan, Mark Mc Ardle, Lauren Ward (0-2), Mickey Keenan (1-1). Subs Used: Pauric Bannigan (0-1), Niall Keenan.
Under 21s play their first game of the league on Monday night at home to Scotstown at 8pm. All players to be at the field for 7.15pm.
Minors next league game is changed to Sunday, July 3rd at home to Inniskeen. On Tuesday, July 5th we play the same opposition in the first round of the Championship. This group of lads has been through the mill this year already with low numbers of players and injuries so could everyone make an effort to come out and support them.
Under 16s play away to Cremartin this evening, Thursday at 7pm. All players to be at the field no later than 6pm.
Under 14s play away to Doohamlet on Saturday at 12 noon.
A Big Thank You to everyone who came along on Saturday last to help tidy up around the clubhouse. There is still work to be done so anyone that wants to continue the good work during the week can contact any committee member and we will organise what needs to be done. Also on Saturday morning next at 10am we are meeting at clubhouse to continue the clean up so anyone available to come and help out would be greatly appreicated. Thanks again.
Summer Camp is commencing from Monday the 4th-8th of July. Anyone interested in attending that hasnt recieved a registeration form can contact John Sheridan on 086 8384145 and he will provide you with one.
Savage Summer Camp is back again full of fun and frolics running from Monday the 11th-15th of July from 10-2pm everyday in Aughnamullen Community Centre. This camp is bursting with cookery, sport, art and drama activities to suit every childs creative flair. Please contact Martha Duffy on 087 9061275 or Sinead Mc Cabe on 087 9580674 to book your child on this camp. It was fully booked out last year and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to Anita Finnegan on her recent appointment as assistant secretary on the County Board. Anita put in tremendous work with Aughnamullen over the number of years that she was club secretary so we all would like to wish you the very best of luck in your new post. Anita also became a Granny for the second time recently as Genna and Dayrl had a baby boy. Congratulations to you`s both also.
Sympathy is extended to the Connolly family on the death of Sarah Duffy Doohamlet. May she rest in peace.
