Truagh Notes

May 24th, 2011

Seniors: We bounced back from our two previous disappointing outings by beating Doohamlet 0-18 to 0-08 in wet conditions last Saturday. It was an impressive display by our seniors, enjoyed more by the occurrence of all front 8 players scoring from play in the game. A convincing start in the opening half built the basis of the win when we opened up a 0-8 to 0-1 lead after 25 minutes. Our scorers were spread about the team, albeit for 3 points scored for Gary Meehan, who was making his first appearance of the season after his zimmer frame retreat. We finished the half 6 points in front 0-9 to 0-3. We resumed the second half in similar fashion and by the 46th minute we were 11 points in front, 0-16 to 0-5. Doohamlet got 3 succesive points in the following 5 minutes before we added a further 2 points in the closing minutes to complete a 0-18 to 0-8 win. Our team and scorers were: Paul Donaghue; John McCarron, Niall Feely, Niall McQuillan; Damian McRory, Keith Sheerin, Niall Coyle (0-1); Barry Cuddy (0-2), Niall McMeel (0-2); John Treanor (0-1), Neil McRory (0-3), Daniel McKenna (0-2, 1f); Gary Meehan (0-5, 2f), Noel Clerkin (0-1), Mark Counihan (0-1).
