Doohamlet GFC Notes

Seniors:  Doohamlets Senior team losing sequence continued last weekend with another two defeats against Clontibret and Magheracloone.

On Friday evening last Doohamlet travelled to Clontibret to play the locals and suffered a one point defeat.  Doohamlet struggled for most of the game against their more illustrious opponents but in the first half both sides were well matched and Doohamlet had five different scorers Kevin McArdle, Glen Comiskey, Ollie Hughes, Niall Johnny Connolly and Shane McManus with two points.   However Clontibret raised their game on the resumption and scored four quick points and playing with a strong wind never relinquished their lead.  Add this and the loss of Niall J. Connolly through injury Doohamlet couldn’t raise their game and the home side ran out comfortable winners in the end.

On Sunday last although beat by three points 1-10 to 0-10 Doohamlet were a much improved team and brought the game to last years County finalists  Magheracloone.  This was a game Doohamlet dominated for long periods and with a litter more accuracy with their shooting could have gained much needed points.  Doohamlet led for much of the first half but an opportune goal from Damian Freeman in the last ten minutes of the half saw Magheracloone go in at half time leading  by 2 points 1-04 to 0-05.  Mark Murphy was our top scorer in the first half with four points.   Ciaran McManus and Colin Walshe dominated midfield and from this platform Doohamlet gained momentum and got within two points with scores from Mark Murphy  Shane Mc Manus and Colin Walshe (2)  Magheracloone with both Freeman brothers in top form always kept Doohamlet at bay with some excellent scores and ran out 1-10 to 0-10 winners in the end.

Team and scorers:  James Casey, Gabie Casey, Martin Hughes, Jason McElroy, Chris Malone, Kevin McArdle, Darren Connolly 0-01, Ciaran McManus, Colin Walshe 0-02, Stephen Gilsenan, Glen Comiskey, Ollie Hughes, Mark Murphy 0-05(4f), Shane McManus 0-02(1f), Johnny Duffy.  Sub used: Greg Duffy and Emmett McManus.

Fixtures:  Doohamlet Seniors next outing is away on Sunday week next against Truagh.

U16’s:  Doohamlet U16’s continue to impress in the league with another impressive victory this time over Blackhill last week.  Having gone in at half time one point in arrears Doohamlet took over in the second half and gave an exhibition of support play and point taking.
