Senior League

Clontibret 0-16, Doohamlet 0-7. Doohamlet started the brighter in a low key affair and we struggled to get into the game against the wind but fought back well to go in level at half time. We dominated proceedings in the second half to win out in the end. Best wishes to Colin Duffy who suffered a head injury during the game. Clontibret 0-6, Scotstown 1-10. A poor first half performance where we let Scotstown build up a strong half time lead left us with an uphill battle for the second half against the wind but the team fought back bravely. Clontibret Hurling Notes 9th May 2011

Seniors: We have a home game against Inniskeen this evening (Thursday) in the second round of the senior league. Throw in is at 7.45.

Minors: On Sunday evening past our minor team led by our stalwart captain Conor Boyle retained the Minor Hurling Championship with an impressive 4 point win over Castleblayney in Monaghan on a score-line of Clontibret 2-11 Castleblayney 0-13. Crucial goals by Liam Savage and Shane Askin proved vital for us, and kept us with the upper hand in a keenly-contested game where both sides showed a lot of skill and work-rate. Our backs put in an outstanding display with Caolan Murphy and Gareth Brennan leading the way and our ever reliable goal keeper Lorcan Murphy kept everything including the kitchen sink from getting past him. Team on the evening included L Murphy, F McNally, C Murphy, D Moorehead, R McNally, G Brennan, K Duffy, L Savage (1-0), C Boyle (Capt.), C Renaghan (0-1), B Greenan (0-6, 4f), D McKeown, S Askin (1-0), A Curran (0-2), M O’Dowd (0-2). Subs: C McDonald for S Askin.

Under 14s: We have a bye in the next round of the U14 league and our next game is on the 23rd of this month when we have an away game against Truagh.

Sympathy: The club wishes to extend its sympathy to the McSkeane family, Lisglasson on the death of Maureen. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam agus go ndeanaí Dia trocaire ar a hanam dílís.

Best Wishes: The club extends its best wishes and a speedy recovery to our referee and PRO Malachy Trainor who is recovering from a recent operation.

Congratulations: The hurling club wishes to extend its congratulations to our veteran hurler Ozzy (Arthur) Hughes on his marriage to Laura Morgan (Moys) on Friday week past. Many happy returns to you both from all the committee and players in the club.
