County Senior Team still being held for Ransom

The Monaghan County Senior Football Team is enduring their second week of being held for ransom by the young people of Foróige in Monaghan. A ransom request was made so that the players would be released for the Monaghan V Kerry match on the 3rd April. The people of Monaghan are asked to get behind the team and Text “TEAM” to 57000. Release the players to dethrone the Kingdom!

Conor Galligan and Daniel McKenna were released for two hours on Saturday to help rally the people of Monaghan and raise the ransom. The players made their pleas live on Northern Sound, anxious to get back to training.

The G.A.A in an effort to get their players back to run rings around Kerry has kindly donated a signed football and shirt to raise funds. People can obtain these coveted goods by coming along to the shopping centre on Saturday. 2 euros will buy to one chance to win the Signed Football and the shirt will be auctioned form 4pm to 5pm. How proud would you be to have these sought-after items in your home or business?

They also donated two tickets to the Monaghan V Kerry match on the 3rd April. The tickets were won by Ian McBride of Ballinode for correctly guessing that it took 126 Balloons to fill a car. Congratulations to him and we hope he cheers the boys on!. We would like to thank the many visitors at the shopping centre that supported the cause and joined in the festivities.

In a last effort to secure the ransom, a “Blue & White” sponsored walk around Monaghan town will take place on the 2nd April. It will be starting from the Monaghan NYP on the Glen Road at 2pm and will finish at Monaghan Shopping Centre at 3pm.  Families are welcome and entertainment, face painting, sweets and balloons will be provided for all the children who visit.
