Aughnamullen Notes

LOTTO results for Sunday night last were 15, 6, 7, 9. There was no winner. Next weeks jackpot now stands at €9,600.
Lucky dip winners were Thomas Dooley, Patrick Deery, Thomas Meegan, Sarah Mc Breen, Sharon Cathcart, Bridie Mc Geough, Pat Mc Geough, Damien Hannaway, Mary and Gerry Geoghegan, Seamus Conlon.
 
SENIORS Aughnamullen played their first game of the intermediate league away to Rockcorry on Saturday last. In the first half the lad’s started off poor and was wasteful in front of goals kickin several wide’s and dropping balls short into the keeper’s hand’s. Rockcorry took advantage of this and late in the first half Rockcorry was awarded a penalty when Seamus Courtney was penalised for a foul on the full forward which resulted in a penalty and was well taken for the home side to put them in control. The highlight of the first half was a fine score from Full back Sam Dooney from a tight angle. Half time Rockcorry 1-6 Aughnamullen 0-3. The second half started similiar to the first and at one stage Rockcorry extended their lead to 8 points. Pete Dooney then got to grip’s with the Rockcorry midfield and made some outstanding clean catches. Points from Eddie McArdle, Pete Dooney and Lee Conlon kept eating into the home side’s advantage, and Aughnamulen reduced the scores to just 1point between the teams. But Rockcorry held on to the 1point lead for victory. Training continues on tomorrow Friday night at 8pm. All players are asked to attend. Next game is at home to Tyholland on Sunday at half 2.
 
JUNIOR B’S Play Kileevan on Saturday at home at 4pm.
 
MINORS start their league campaign next Tuesday night at home to Blackhill at 7pm. Training on Sunday at 5pm. All players that are eligable to play minor football this year please attend as numbers are low.
 
UNDER 16`S Training continues on Thursday nights at 7.30pm. Please contact team management if you cant attend.
 
UNDER 14`s The U14’s commenced their league campaign with a good win over Latton on Saturday morning last. This game was a game Aughnamullen led from start to finish although latton were level at the end of the first quarter with a score of 0-4 to1-1. Aughnamullens goal coming from centre forward Jamie Marron. Into the second quarter Aughnamullen took control and some fine scores from Micheal Bannigan, Ciaran Marron and Stephen mc Gee meant Aughnamullen led at half time on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-4. into the next quarter latton came more into the game but with 2 goals from Stephen McGee kept Aughnamullen in control whilst Latton then reduced the lead to 4points with 2goals of their own. Although the blues took control in the final qaurter with more scores from the afforementioned Bannigan, Alan Markey and Shane Lambe and a home opportunist goal from sub conal treanor to leave it 4-16 to 2-9 in favour of the blues. This was a great performance with Kevin Sheridan well assisted by his defenders Caolan Connolly and the geoghegan brothers Darren and Stephen in defence as well as Packie Marron, the Bannigan Brothers Ryan and Aaron and the midfielders Alan Markey and Shane Lambe whilist up front the Marron brothers Jamie and Ciaran, Micheal Bannigan and Stephen McGee and sub Conal Treanor.
