Ulster League

Our first game in the Ulster league competition takes place this Sunday 6th February when we travel to Derry to take on Desertmartin. The game has a 12.30pm throw-in and the bus will leave the village at 9.30am sharp.

Best of Luck

All the best to Keelan Clerkin and Fergal McGeough who are members of the St. Macartan’s school team that are playing Enniskillen this Saturday in the quarter final of the MacRory Cup competition. Good luck lads and hopefully a good crowd will travel to shout them on. (Please check elsewhere for time and venue of the game.)

Social & Presentation Night

Our social and presentation night will take place on Friday 25th February in St. Mary’s Hall. Aogan O’Fearghail, Uachtaran Chomhairle Uladh will be our special guest on the night and admission will be €10 which can be paid at the door. Refreshments will also be served on the night. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Hall of Fame Award along with the Senior, Reserve and Minor Player of the Year Awards.

“Rock Country”

Howdy partners! What y’all doin on Friday 18th March? Why not get your best bib and tucker and wiggle on down to St. Mary’s Hall for a hog-killin time! Not only will the music be fantastic but you can bend an elbow as well! Once again we find there’s no end to the talent within the village as the entertainment just keeps getting better and better with the cream of our singers coming out to perform their favourite Country & Western songs for one night only. With many people inquiring who is taking part the buzz and excitement is certainly building but am I not at liberty to announce the participants just at the moment but hopefully in next week’s notes all will be revealed!

Senior Scor

Anyone interested in taking part in senior scor this year can you please contact our Cultural Officer Ollie McQuillan as soon as possible. There are plenty of opportunities in music, singing, storytelling, dancing and novelty act.

“Club Maith”

The club is currently preparing an application to the Ulster Council under their “Club Maith” programme. This is an accreditation scheme which allows clubs to benchmark themselves against best practice. In doing so it encourages us (the club) to aim for excellence in the core areas of the club activity, such as governance, duty of care, community enhancement, culture & heritage, coaching and games development etc. Recently, a number of club officers attended Club Maith training workshops that proved very useful and gave us good ideas on how to modernise the way we conduct our affairs within the club. Watch this space for more details!

Coaching Programme 2011

The Monaghan Coaching & Games Development committee has set out a comprehensive schedule of various coaching courses to be held over 2011. Please log onto www.rockcorrygaa.ie to download and view all the courses and dates. Anybody interested in attending these courses should contact our youth officer Pascal Smyth or alternatively contact Paul O’Connor directly on 086-8374827 or email developmentmanager.monaghan@gaa.ie
