Handball:

County Championships.  We had a very productive day on Sunday last in St.Mellans where we captured another 4 county titles. First into the alley for us was Aaron Mohan where he faced a much fancied Ryan Mooney from the Harps, Aaron started of like a man not going to make mistakes of past and took full control of the 1st game in where he never lost the lead and won it 15-11. Starting the 2nd a little bit nervously and being down 3-6 he regained composure to lead 11-6 then Ryan got back in to lead 12-11 but Aaron got back in and closed out the game 15-12 to claim his 1st Singles title. Next in were the girls of Shaun Mc Aree and Nicole Mc Carron in the U15 Girls, Shaun won the first on a score line of 15-1 but in the second Nicole got some good rallies going and started to eat into Shaun’s lead but with some good high serves into the left corner Shauna won her 2nd game and the title 15-4. Then up were the U15 Boys where Gary (T) Treanor was pitted against Mark Mc Donnell of Emyvale, this was always going to be a hard hitting game and it didn’t let us down and Gary took full control of proceeding from the off and took the 1st game 15-6, and leading the second 12-6 Gary had a slight injury to his side and after several time outs he lost the 2nd 12-15. But after a short break he composed and with some good positional play and great passing shots Mark had no answer and Gary went on to also win his 1st title in the tie-breaker 15-4. Last but not least into the alley were club pairing of Naill Rooney and Ryan (T) Treanor, this was a well even 1st game and could have went any way, with going point for point to the end Ryan won 21-20, in the 2nd Niall settled and took it 21-7, then down to the tie-breaker Naill went in the more confident and closed out the game 11-1, this was a good game with some good handball through out, like the girls game some times its not easy to play a final against a friend and club mate but all 6 players must be commended on their play, and the winners on their wins, roll on Ulster.

GAA League. The GAA league teams have several games over at this point with the A team playing 2, win 1 and losing 1, the B Team were beaten in their first game, keep in contact with captains about times dates and venues.

Mono Team League. With only a few games remaining we may be looking at playing the semi-finals and the Final between Christmas and the New year, keep in touch with your captains if this happens there will be no standard notes but all will be informed via texts.

Juveniles. All coaching is over for the year after this week (ending the 16th), we hope to start up leagues after the new year for the bigger juveniles but all will be notified before it kicks off so coaching sessions start up again on January the 2nd as per normal.

Christmas Presents. Only 3 weeks to go until Christmas any late minute presents needed why not try some handball gear Balls, goggles and jerseys available in the shop, its open Friday evenings 7-8pm.
