Monaghan GAA Annual Awards Night:

The annual Monaghan GAA Awards Night was held last Friday  in the Four Season’s Hotel. Once again it was another big night for the Corduff Gaels Club as we picked up 3 presdigious awards, Intermediate Player Of The Year Pádraic Keenan, Senior League Referee Award Anthony Marron and the coveted Club Of The Year Award which was a huge honour as it doesn’t come around too often. Massive congratulations are extended to Pádraic, Anthony and the Corduff Gaels Club on been awarded club of the year. Citations follow:

Intermediate Player Of The Year 2022: Pádraic Keenan

From a young age it was evident Pádraic was a very talented player. The leader on many juvenile teams in Corduff eventually making the transition to secondary school senior level football, county minor and indeed third level football.

In 2010 he made his adult team debut with Corduff, and over the course of the last 10 years has enjoyed representing Monaghan at U21 and senior level meaning he has represented his club at all levels of intercounty football.

Since his adult debut in 2010 Pádraic has been a driving force on the field and instrumental in Corduff’s persistent quest for success. This year he finally received the reward and recognition warranted for years of top level individual performances for his club, winning the Intermediate League and Championship and fittingly receiving player of the match in the Championship final win over Magheracloone plus Corduff Gaels Player Of The Year 2022.

Congratulations Pádraic, 2022 certainly was your year!

Senior League Referee: Anthony Marron

Anthony hails from the Corduff Gaels club and has refereed at all  levels in Monaghan. He is also on the Ulster GAA Referee’s Panel, the Ulster Ladies Referee’s Panel plus the National Panel.

In 2021 Anthony was appointed as Juvenile Referee Administrator and in 2022 he became Monaghan GAA’s Senior Referee Administrator. In this role Anthony has put a huge effort into recruiting new Referees so if anyone is interested in pursuing a career in Refereeing don’t hesitate to contact Anthony.

Congratulations Anthony on your Award as Senior League Referee 2022.

Club Of The Year 2022

The GAA Club is the basic unit of the Association, the heartbeat and bedrock of every Irish community with its own club GAA headquarters which provides an organised structure from which great community spirit is generated. For the vibrant Corduff Gaels Club which is nestled among the rolling Monaghan drumlins 2022 will go down in the annals of time as the most historic year ever in the history of the Club.

It was the year when team Manager Seamus had a vision for the club which was fulfilled by committed players and backroom team by completing the historic Monaghan Intermediate Double on an amazing journey which saw them reach the Ulster Final, going Senior for only the second time in the history of the club. It was also the year that the Reserve team completed the Double and parallel to this it was the year that Corduff Ladies completed the Monaghan Ladies Intermediate Double going Senior for only the first time ever. In tandem with these adult success stories the Club Juvenile scene went from strength to strength with many victories along the way.

These success stories have had a tremendous influence on the local Corduff Raferagh area. From the youngest to the most senior member of the community everyone was on the same fantastic journey and the hashtags #árgclub #clubiscore #whereweallbelong #gaafamily can all be applied to the strong and vibrant Corduff Gaels club and community.

Seasons and awards such as Club Of The Year don’t come around too often so we must acknowledge the hard work and dedication of current and former managers, coaches, players ,volunteers, supporters and sponsors who have made the Corduff Club what it is, and that is, the Monaghan GAA Club Of The Year 2022.
