Latton GAA Club Club Notes – Week Beginning 5th September 2016

Lotto Results-Numbers drawn on Monday 5th September were 15-8-1-25,Bonus 17 . No Jackpot winner . The €20 winners were David Hughes,Mahon,Pat Hamilton,Belfast,Jim Cosgrove,Cootehill,John Fox,Shantonagh,Andy & Maureen C/O Joe Rices.Thanks to all who support our weekly Lotto .

U14’s

Good luck to our Division 5 Team play Emyvale in the Shield final on Saturday 10th September in Scotstown at 12.00pm.

U15’S

Well done to our U15 team of Karl,Conor,Darragh,Shane,Aaron,Shane,Gavin,Enda,Michael,James & Thomas and to their Management on a brilliant performace Saturday in Aughnamullen representing Monaghan in Ulster Blitz. They had good wins over Aldergrove & Granemore and had a single point defeat to Cavan Gaels in their first game. They were narrowly defeated by Killybegs in the Semi Final with Killybegs running out the eventual winners.

U16 Football Championship

Good luck to our U16 team who play in the Division 2 Championship Final this Saturday 10th September at 2.30 in Scotstown . They also play Sean McDermotts in the League Semi Final on Tuesday 13th September at 6.30 in Donaghmoyne.

Minor Football League

Maguire International Minor Football Division 3 Championship Final Latton lined out once again against Sean Mc Dermott’s on Sunday 4th September in a repeat of the League final played the previous week.Latton lined out with Shane Black in goal, Full back line of David Mc Cabe & Adam Mc Cabe. In front of them were Paudraic Hughes,David Hughes & Killian Lennon.The Mid Field line up with Damien West & Dylan Quinn.Conor Mc Cabe,Liam Quinn & Cathal Lennon were the half forwards and the team was completed up front by Shane Duffy & Niall Maguire.Subs on the day were Aaron Mulligan,Conor Corrigan & Enda Mc Phillips.The first half started a very fast pace with 2 quick points from both sides to leave it 02-02 after 8 minutes.Latton Scoreres were Liam Quinn & Conor Mc Cabe.Conor popped 2 more points over the bar to leave Latton 2 up after 15minutes.This was followed by a Liam Quinn point . Seans fought back and scored 1 -04 unanswered to leave the 1-07 – 0-05up.Aaron Mulligan replaced Niall Maguire upfront. The last 4 minutes of the first half were vital for Latton Aaron & Conor scored 2 quick gaols to leave Latton 2-05 – 1-07 up at half time. Aaron Mulligan was first off the Mark in the second half for Latton however Sean’s regrouped and were rewarded with a goal in the 5th Minute to level the match .Aaron Mulligan was proving difficult for the Sean’s defence and slotted over a free in the 6th minute followed by a second point in the 8th Minute to leave them 2 to the good. Seans hit back with another point followed by a Conor Mc Cabe point in the 13th Minute to leave Latton 2 ahead again. Shane Duffy hit over a point in the 14th Minute to leave a goal between the sides.Points were once again traded between Seans and Cathal Lennon for Latton in the 19th minute. Liam Quinn slotted over to leave 4 in it.Sean’s once again regrouped and scored a 23rd minute goal to leave the minimum between the sides.Sean’s levelled the match in the 25th minute. Paudraic Hughes slotted over a vital point in the 29th minute which was once again matched by sean’s with a 30th minute equaliser. Once again Latton regrouped and Aaron Mulligan slotted over a point in the 31st minute.Conor Mc Cabe completed the scoring for Latton to leave the final score Latton 2-16 – Sean McDermott’s 3-11.

A brilliant game of football between 2 very evenly matched teams . Credit goes to both sets of players and management for a very entertaining and skillfull game of football.

Latton’s captain Dylan Quinn hoisted the Cup high into the air to celebrate another momentous day for Latton Minors completing a second double in 2 years.

Senior League

We had good home win last Saturday 3rd September at home v Magheracloone on scoreline of Latton 2-09 – Magheracloone 1-08.
