McGuigan Builders Intermediate Championship
Our senior team put in an enormously gutsy performance last Saturday evening (13th September) which saw them beat a strong and determined Cremartin outfit on a score-line Rockcorry 1-11 Cremartin 0-13 in the McGuigan Builders Intermediate Football Championship. You know I like to be honest and I don’t want to be harsh but looking back over the hour it wasn’t a classic performance, for sure, and it was definitely not the prettiest of contests to watch but having said all that what it lacked in style, panache and flair it made up for with passion, intensity and physicality. It was your typical thrill a minute championship encounter where every ball was fiercely contested with great desire and intent and when the going got tough the lads stood strong. It was a tight and close encounter and when our backs were up against the wall we did not panic and the lads dug deep and repeatedly put their bodies on the line making some vital and explosive tackles to grind out a result and a fully deserved victory. Well done lads, keep up the good work and keep working hard at training and focus on the next exciting encounter in the championship. It will be a massive challenge but with the right attitude and mental approach you can achieve anything. Please visit www.rockcorrygaa.ie or our Facebook page for a selection of action photographs.

Go Games Blitz
Our under 8 footballers completed their football season last Saturday (13th September) when they took part in a very enjoyable and exciting Go Games held at Doohamlet. Once again this was a very entertaining and successful blitz campaign and the beautiful September sunshine added to the excitement with all the children from the various clubs having fun. Competing clubs on the day included Doohamlet, Eire Og and our own bunch of wee brave-hearts. All kids acquitted themselves exceptionally well, showing plenty of enthusiasm and displayed loads of energy and the signs are positive for a bright future. It was also wonderful to see so many parents there to support and encourage the children and a special word of mention to the hard working coaches & mentors of all the clubs who freely give up their time voluntarily on a Saturday morning to help organise and look after the future players of the club.
Under 10 Coaching
Coaching for the under 10 footballers will continue this week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6.30pm. The last Go Games Blitz is scheduled for Saturday 27th September and takes place at Doohamlet between 10am to 12 noon.
