Monaghan’s senior hurlers exited the Nicky Rackard Cup with a 2-19 to 1-11 defeat against Roscommon in Saturday’s quarter-final in Athleague. Monaghan stayed with Roscommon for large parts of the game, but were reduced to 13 men, allowing the Connacht men, who played in a higher division in the National Hurling League, to pull away in the final quarter.

Donaghmoyne are out on their own in second place in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League after they had an eight-point win over bottom club Seán McDermotts on Friday.

Aghabog are now in a three-way tie for top spot in the Eurotech Junior Football League after they beat Killeevan by the narrowest of margins on Friday.

Quarter-finals in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championships dominated the weekend’s action. Scotstown and Magheracloone had narrow wins over Monaghan Harps and Latton respectively in the O’Duffy Cup on Friday, before Castleblayney saw off Corduff in a nine-goal thriller on Sunday, while Drumhowan edged past Killeevan in a tense encounter.

Oram’s three-point win over Éire Óg on Friday saw them become the first team to qualify for the Crawley Cup semi-finals. They were joined on Sunday by Seán McDermotts and Clones, who had two-point victories against Emyvale and Aughnamullen respectively.

There were also games in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Leagues. Inniskeen moved four points clear at the top of Division Three with a comfortable win over Truagh on Saturday, while Aghabog and Blackhill were too strong for Feargal O’Hanlons and Toome in Division Four on Sunday.
