Clontibret 2-06 Aughnamullen 0-08
Despite being a man down for much of the second half the minors put in a spirited and determined display to see off a strong Aughnamullen challenge in the final of the Maguire International Division 2 Championship in Drumhowan on Sunday. The game was played with a difficult cross wind making scores hard to come by but when Aughnamullen tied it up with time running out a draw seemed a distinct possibility. It was then that the boys dug deep and a great move saw Luke Brennan finish to the net to be followed shortly after by another great goal from Nathan Coyle to put the issue beyond doubt. Amid great celebrations the cup was presented to Captain Fionnan Brennan by Donal McAdam. The team was Odhran Sherlock, Fionnan Brennan, Jack Sullivan, Jack Brady, Luke Brennan (1-0), Stephen Hamill, Malachy Treanor, Nathan Coyle (1-0), Cian Byrne, Oliver Kelly, Evan Treanor (0-1), Matthew McNamee, Charlie Mone (0-3) Daniel Boylan, Darragh Keenan (0-2), Subs Shane Byrne, Adam Hall, Cailean Cawley, Caolain Boylan, Charlie Gormley, Stephen McSkeane, Shane Connolly, Michael Renaghan, Korey McSkeane, Tomas O’Connor. Special mention to Jack Sullivan who stayed back from a family holiday to play the match.
Many thanks to the management team of JP Mone, Marty Corey and Ross Lowey for their hard work with this group all year.
