SFC wins for Castleblayney and Carrickmacross

Castleblayney made it two SFC wins inside a week when they got the better of Truagh in Clontibret last Saturday. With Dermot Malone, Martin McElroy, Barry Hanratty and Dermot McArdle leading the, Blayney never trailed as they sealed a deserved win. Adam Treanor’s first-half goal kept Truagh in touch, but they fell short.

Castleblayney take on Clontibret with a semi-final place up for grabs this Saturday, while Truagh enter the qualifier route against Inniskeen on Sunday.

Carrickmacross 2-18 Monaghan Harps 0-14                                 1/9/18

 

Carrickmacross got back to winning ways when they saw off Monaghan Harps in this SFC qualifier in Clontibret last Saturday. A week after falling to their first defeat of the year at the hands of holders Scotstown, the SFL leaders got their SFC campaign back on track. Carrick had stand-out performances from Aaron Lynch and Peter O’Hanlon, who hit a combined 1-9 from play. With Gary McEnaney and Niall Loughman also prominent and Stephen O’Hanlon getting their second goal, Carrick set up a local derby against Magheracloone, despite the best efforts of Kevin Loughran, Éimhín Morahan and Conor Galligan for the Harps.
