Senior Citizen Trip to Croke Park

A Trip to Croke Park     healthandwellbeinglogo

The Monaghan GAA Health and Wellbeing Committee are organising a Trip to Croke Park for 100 Older GAA people from our County.

This is part of the GAA Social Initiative. The mission of the GAA Social Initiative is to make clubs more age-friendly, by increasing the participation of older members of society, through events specifically designed to enrich their lives and respect the important contribution they have made and can continue to make to community life.

On Tuesday 13th December, 100 people from Monaghan – 3 from each Club – will enjoy a fantastic day out in Croke Park. They will enjoy a full guided tour of the Stadium, a short film on the history of Croke Park and some of the great matches played there. This will be followed by lunch and then some time to enjoy the Croke Park Museum before making the journey home. Transport will be provided from each of the five towns in the county.

Please identify 3 older people in your Club who you would like to nominate for this trip. It could be a longstanding  Club player; the person who looked after the jerseys; groundsman; committee member; first aid volunteer; fundraiser or any other committed member of your Club over the years.

This is an opportunity for your Club to recognise the contribution of a valued individual in the Club.

The only cost to the Club will be €50. That’s €50 in total for the three guests on the day, inclusive of travel, tour, lunch and museum.

Please note the following:

·         Each club must get the names of their three nominees (plus a contact number for each) and a cheque for €50 to Cathal Hand  before or at Convention on 1st December.

·         Each nominee must be over 65 years of age.

·         Places cannot be guaranteed after that date.

·         If a Club is not taking up this offer, please also let me know this, as a number of clubs have already requested additional places – if they become available.

·         Buses will leave from each town in the county on the morning of 13th December. Exact details will be given at Convention. Similarly buses will return to each town that evening.

If any Club has any question they can email Cathal Hand on chair.hwc.monaghan@gaa.ie or phone or text  on 087 1473373.

Let’s make this a Day to Remember! Will your Club be there. Please don’t miss the opportunity to recognise the people who have contributed so much to your club in previous years. None of us would be here today, doing what we are doing – if it wasn’t for them.
