Seniors:

McElvaney  Waste & Recycling Intermediate Championship:

Last Saturday Grattan Park Inniskeen was the venue for the preliminary round of the McElvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Championship clash of Corduff & Aughnamullen. Corduff hadn’t a good run against Aughnamullen in the League so they were relishing the opportunity to take them down a peg or two. Not having Jason Hand and Brendan McNally starting was a great loss to Corduff but they were confident enough with a mix of seasoned players and youth that they were up for the task. It took both sides some time to settle down with Aughnamullen eventually opening the scoring with a point in the seventh minute followed directly by a goal. Having missed some early scoring opportunities it took Corduff 11 minutes to get on the scoreboard with a point. For the remainder of the first half Corduff dominated keeping Aughnamullen scoreless until the half time whistle. A goal from Martin Mills and points from Declan Larkin and the O’Callaghan brothers gave Corduff a 3 point advantage going in 1-04 to 1-01 at the interval. After the restart Aughnamullen added to their account and by the 15th minute were right back in the game reducing the arrears with a second goal exposing the Corduff defence. By now the momentum and pace of the game had increased and both sides were reduced to 14 men. Brendan McNally and Raymond Byrne were introduced for Corduff and Brendan scored the last point for Corduff in the 28th minute. Aughnamullen added 2 more points making for a nervous finish but Corduff survived a second half comeback by Aughnamullen and edged this one on 1-11 to 2-06. This was a good all round performance from Ben Woods in goals to the forwards . Congratulations to the team and management who are now rewarded with a place in Round 1A of the McElvaney W& R Intermediate Championship against Currin this Sunday in Scotstown. Throw-in is at 1:30pm and we’re calling on all supporters to come out and support the team and management .

Exam Results:

Congratulations to all members of the men’s and ladies club who received their exam results last week and good luck to everyone in the future on whatever path you decide to follow.

Ladies:

U16s:

The semi-final of the Division 3 U16 League was played in Corduff last Saturday evening with Corduff playing Doohamlet. Doohamlet opened stronger and continued to dominate going in at the interval 4-04 to 3-01.It was  Corduff that opened stronger in the second half and they came right back into the game reducing the margin to a goal and  keeping Doohamlet scoreless until the 17th minute . However Doohamlet finished stronger winning by 8 points on a scoreline of 5-10 to 4-05. It was a great achievement to reach the semi-final but this is the end of the season for the U16s. Thanks to management and players for putting in a huge effort throughout and to the first aiders. Also well done to the Killanny girls who were a very important part of the panel for the season. The team was as follows Amy Marron, Keely Mee, Lorna Hand, Tara Walsh, Naoise Cunningham, Aoibheann Crawley, Aoibheann Farrelly, Georgia Smith, Dearbhla Callan, Sinead Gartlan, Bekki Carragher, Elena McEnaney and Aoibheann Corrigan, Chloe Finmegan, Leona Hill and Abbie Finegan.
