Previews (June 5-11)

With no senior games this week, reserve competitions take centre stage.

 

The Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championship semi-finals take place in the next few days. Scotstown host Aughnamullen in the O’Duffy Cup, with Monaghan Harps at home to Magheracloone on Wednesday. Sunday’s Crawley Cup semis are Donaghmoyne v Truagh and Killanny v Carrickmacross, while in the McKeown Cup, it’s Killeevan v Toome and Monaghan Harps v Clones.

Truagh have the chance to go joint-top of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 1A when they host Latton on Friday evening, while the current top two, Clontibret and Scotstown, go head-to-head on Wednesday.

Division 1B joint-leaders Castleblayney host Emyvale on Wednesday, with third-placed Ballybay making the short trip to Aughnamullen.

Division 2A table-toppers Doohamlet are away to Éire Óg on Saturday, with Seán McDermotts having a chance to move up from third if they win in Rockcorry. Éire Óg are back in action on Wednesday in an away game against Drumhowan.

It’s top versus bottom in Division 2B when Blackhill host Inniskeen, while there is also a local derby between Carrickmacross and Killanny for the second time in four days and a long trip for Truagh to face Corduff.

There is also a top v bottom game in Division Three between Killeevan and Toome, who are meeting for the second time in the space of a few days.

 

Castleblayney will bid for a sixth consecutive win in the Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling League when they travel to Clontibret on Thursday, while Truagh and Carrickmacross, who currently share third place, go head-to-head.

 

The Gerry’s Prepared Veg. juvenile competitions are in full flight, with games in the Under-14 Football and Hurling Leagues and Championships and Under-12 Hurling League. There is also an Under-10 GoGames Family Fun Day in Cloghan on Saturday, featuring an all-county blitz and activities including fun games, skills awards, face-painting, music and an opportunity to meet county players.

 

Meanwhile, the county’s Under-21 ladies footballers take on Longford in Clontibret on Sunday at 2pm.
