Clontibret Notes

June 9th, 2015

Senior LeagueClontibret 1-11, Magheracloone 1-11. This was a close encounter throughout but we missed many chances in a game we could have won.

This Sunday we take on Ballybay at home in a star match at 7pm.

Following that, we are away to Blayney on Saturday 27th July at 7pm.

Reserve League

We played Scotstown yesterday evening, result next week.

On Saturday week, 20th June we are away to Truagh at 7pm.

On Sunday, 5th July we have Magheracloone at home at 2pm.

U14 Championship & League

We played Tyholland on Tuesday in the championship semi-final, result next week.

This evening, Thursday we are away to the Harps at 7.30pm.

Following that, we are at home to Seans on Thursday, 25th June at 7.30pm.

U12

On Saturday we are away to Inniskeen at 12pm.

U10

Our u10s acquitted themselves very well last Saturday in Cloghan for the All-County Go-Games. Unfortunately due to the weather it had to be called off early but our lads showed we are up there with the best of them in the county at this age group; it must be all the hard work and practice these boys are doing!

Training will resume on Wednesday evening at 6pm as normal.

U8

The All-County Go Games will take place this Saturday in Cloghan. All players are to be at the Community Centre for 8.50am. Parents are asked to please make themselves available to help with transport; it is very much appreciated.

U6

Training as per normal Friday evening at 6.30pm to 7.15pm at the field.

Hurling

U12

Well done to our Under 12 team who played Carrick on Monday night.

U8, U10

The Under 8 and 10 teams will play Middletown on Thursday night at 6:30 in Clontibret.

Seniors

Training continues for the senior team on Monday nights at 8. We play Castleblaney on Thursday night at home. Throw in at 8pm.

Camogie

Commiserations to our U-12s who suffered their first defeat in the Armagh League on Saturday last when they met Culloville. This group have a well-deserved break this Saturday.

However they are the only group who will be resting since the seniors continue their quest for an Armagh title when they face Derrynoose, in Derrynoose, on Wednesday evening. Departure is from the Center at 6.15 and those who are travelling direct should indicate this to management.

Then on Thursday evening our U-16 panel play Culloville, in lieu of training. Departure is from the Centre at 6.30 sharp. Hopefully sufficient transport will be available to relieve those who have been ‘on the road’ quite a bit lately with our U-12’s. Parents are asked to confirm the availability of their daughters asap.

Saturday sees our U-14’s in action against Killeavy. Departure from the Centre is at 10.45 and again hopefully sufficient transport offers will ensure that no parent has to drive twice in the coming week – unless of course they wish to!!!! Parents are asked to advise of the availability of their daughters for this match. This game should provide a valuable work-out for our U-14’s who play Camlough on Tuesday evening in another away match. It is hoped that a bus will be provided for this match. Details will be available at the weekend.

Training continues on Thursday evening for the U-12/U-14 group at 5.30 with Marie and Aisling. Any Transition Year (or older) students who wish to assist with either this or the U-14/U-16 group should indicate this, as additional pairs of hands are always welcome. U-14/U-16 training will probably be re-scheduled on Thurs June 18 due to Scoil Mhuire Sixth Class graduation Mass. Alternative arrangements will be made with the panel.

And now over to the ‘Department of Apologies’!!! Firstly to Emily who recently was awarded ‘Athlete of the Year’ at Our Lady’s Secondary School end-of-year awards ceremony! What an achievement Emily, though not surprising when one considers that an average day for her could comprise swimming at 6am, in-school sporting activities and camogie or triathlon training in the evening! Last Friday, it was a case of coming from swimming in Lough Muckno (b-r-r-r-r) straight to senior training where she virtually ‘lapped’ players in the sprints. Sunday saw herself and Éimear participate in a triathlon! Phew! The rest of us only think we are active!!

Also apologies to Abbie whom I omitted from the list of those doing exams! Seems no length since Abbie was in Sixth Class – suddenly she is sitting her Junior Cert! Best wishes Abbie!

Finally, what comes around goes around Chloe!! So birthday greetings to you in the coming week!!! Sweet 16!! All say ‘Ah-h-h‘!!
