Emmets New Development! The building contractors moved in on Donaghmoyne Road pitch a week ago to commence work on the new dressing rooms and facilities: The foundations were poured on Friday last and it is all systems go from here on in. This is another step on the road to developing the site and is something to look forward to as the construction takes shape in the coming months. Along with the building of this phase there will be a new walkway also constructed to link the pitches to the pedestrian footpath coming from the town which will be of great benefit to the users when completed.

Emmets results! In the Intermediate League; the Emmets had mixed luck in their two games played since last the last publicationFirstly on Wednesday evening they went down to a much stronger Doohamlet outfit in Doohamlet:  Emmets were missing six players from their last game against Drumhowan; Aaron Murray, Cillian Cromwell, Kevin O’Hanlon who were all doing examinations while Eoin Sherry, Stephen Gollogly and Aaron Lynch were on the injured list. Jamie Guinan and Declan Finnegan came in to the defence while Fergal Lonergan, Adam Waller, Jamie Gartlan and Ryan Carolan all lined out in the forwards. (Emmets 1.03 Doohamlet 0.11) Emmets Team and scorers! Ronan Gollogly.Secondly on a chilly Sunday afternoon in Emmet Park; we had to sweat it out until Peter O’Hanlon took a dramatic high catch in the home square from a free-kick; which if scored would have seen Tyholland gain a last-ditch draw from a game in which the Emmets played hot and cold football. The Emmets overturned a three point deficit at half time to emerge with the victory by the narrowest of margins. (Emmets 1.11 Tyholland 1.10Emmets Team and scorers! They started brightly with a goal almost from the throw-in but their opponents were quick to respond and although playing against the breeze the Faughs held a commanding lead at the half-time break 2.09 to 1.02. The Emmets performed much better in the second half and only conceded 1.02 in the course of play but while defending well they could not find enough scores up front to unnerve the eventual winners. The Emmets applied good pressure and battled to the last whistle which saw the final score Emmets 2.06 Faughs 3.11. Best of luck to the Castleblayney lads who will represent Monaghan in the finals of the All Ireland Feile;which will be held in June. The Under Fourteen Football League (Division 5) team is in fourth position in their group but a weakened team fell heavily to Rockcorry at the weekend. Finally the under sixteen footballers had a comprehensive victory over Donaghmoyne in round three of the league. In a high scoring game there were six goals thirty three points scored but on the breakdown the Emmets with the six goals to their credit won easily on a scoreline of 6.17 to 0.16. The result leaves them in second spot in the competition which is headed by Truagh.
