Monaghan Harps notes

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 9, 20, 26 and 27. Jackpot of €3,400 not won. Residual prizes: €100 Hugh McCague c/o Séamus Treanor; €40 Gerard Myers c/o Brian O’Sullivan (Hurling Club); €40 Cody Jo Morgan c/o Noel Hennessy; €40 Marie Farrell c/o herself. Jackpot for Sunday, January 19 is €3,500. Lotto draw takes place in the clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome.

 

Meetings: There will be a club meeting in the clubhouse this Thursday at 8pm. All members are welcome. There is also a football development meeting on Wednesday at 9pm.

 

Charity match: Any outstanding sponsorship forms and money from our annual Christmas charity match should be returned to Owen Connell, Mary White, Theresa McCaughey, Liadhan Treanor or the clubhouse as soon as possible. All money raised will go to local charities.

 

Membership: Membership fees for 2014 can now be paid to registrar Dermot Coyle, treasurer John Harden or in the clubhouse.

 

Awards night: The annual Monaghan GAA awards night is on this Saturday in the Hillgrove Hotel, with the club receiving presentations for Youth Achievement in hurling, Handballer of the Year (Terry McElvaney) and Youth Referee (Pauric Coyle).

 

Coaching courses: Anyone interested in doing a foundation coaching course or doing/renewing the child protection course on March 21/22 is asked to contact Una Forde on 087 6107329.

 

Arch Club: We are delighted to once again welcome Monaghan Arch Club to Gavan Duffy Park on Thursday, February 6. Members are asked to keep this evening free if possible.

 

Scór: The Ulster Scór na nÓg finals have been rescheduled for Saturday, January 25 at 7pm, with Monaghan Harps to be represented in Léiriú.

 

New rules: It is compulsory from January 1, 2014 for all adult players to wear a mouth guard at both training and matches. All players and mentors are asked to take note. The new playing rules are also now in effect: see online for full details.

 

Ladies notes: The Monaghan Harps Ladies Club AGM was held last Saturday in the clubhouse. Gerard Clerkin opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Laura McManus outlined her secretary’s report including details on the field of play for all age groups. She congratulated all Harps representatives on county panels during 2013. She specified the finalists and players of the tournament in our annual Abbey Fanning memorial sevens competition in June 2013. The recent end of year presentation night was also highlighted with details on all the respective players of the year at each age-group. Laura thanked everyone involved in the running of the club and included managements and parents who helped in the transportation of our juvenile players to and from games.

Gerard continued the AGM with his chairperson’s address. He detailed all the hard work ongoing throughout the year by players and management across all ages. He thanked Brian and Donal for maintaining the pitches. Scór na nÓg and Spraoi Scór were highlighted and some of these competitions are ongoing. Gerard concluded by thanking everyone who helped out during 2013.

Allison Treanor detailed the registration and financial status of the club for 2013.

Treasurer: Hannah Clerkin, PRO: Yvonne Connell, Children’s Officer: Sinead Maguire, Registrar: Allison Treanor, Cultural & Language Officer: Tara Reilly, Delegates to County Board: Eileen McElvaney & Allison Treanor, Liaison Officer to Men’s club: Gerard Clerkin, John Hetherington, Teresa McCaughey & Jackie Reilly. Committee Members: Éadaoin Maguire, David Mee & Jennifer Treanor, Senior management – David Mee, Minor management – David Mee, Gerard Clerkin, John Hetherington & Catherine, U-16 management – Gerard Clerkin, John Hetherington & Catherine, U-14 management – Sinéad Maguire to approach nominees & U-12 management – Sinéad Maguire to approach nominees.

Thanks to Liadhan for opening the clubhouse for the AGM.

Senior Training to start Tuesday, February 4 at 7pm and Friday, February 7 at 8pm.

Next club meeting is on Thursday, January 16 at 7.15pm in McElvaney’s bar.

Registration for all age groups can be collected by all managements and forwarded to Allison from now on. Registration for 2014 is: Senior €55, under-18/16/14 €40, under-10 €25 and non-playing members €30.
