Jackpot for Sunday, July 28 is €1,100. Lotto draw takes place in the clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome.

County teams: Congratulations to the Monaghan senior and minor footballers on their superb victories in last Sunday’s Ulster finals. Fearghal McMahon was top scorer for the minors with 2-5, including a nerveless penalty in the dying minutes, while Kevin Loughran played a key role at full-back and later midfield, before becoming the first Monaghan man to lift the cup since 1945. Neil McAdam went on to have a fine game at centre-half back for the seniors, who also had Conor Galligan on the panel. It was amazing to see four Monaghan teams between men’s and ladies bringing Ulster trophies onto the stage in town on Monday night, with each team featuring representatives from the Harps.

Fundraising: Our club is holding an important presentation at 9.15pm tonight (Tuesday) in the clubhouse to outline our next fundraiser. All members are asked to attend.

Reserves: The club’s third team won its first championship title when we beat Blackhill in a keenly-contested final at Cremartin last Saturday evening. Three points from Stephen Driver and two each by Ashley White, captain Gerard Gilsenan and David Loughran had us ahead by 0-9 to 0-4 at half-time and we managed to maintain our lead throughout the second half. Conor McCaughey and David kicked fine points from play, while Ashley landed another couple of frees and although Blackhill rallied in the closing stages, we held on to win by 0-13 to 0-11. Congratulations to manager Jimmy Croarkin on a job very well done and to Pat Murphy, who finally got his hands on silverware with our ‘c’ team after many years trying as player, manager and selector. Thanks also to Ciarán Cuddy, Dermot Brannigan and everyone else who has helped out with this team.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Séamus Brannigan, Johnny Sherry, Gary Trappe; Brendan McQuaid, Mustafa Gamal, Dean McMahon; Stephen Driver (0-3), Robbie Moyna; Pat Murphy, Ashley White (0-4f), Gary Murray; David Loughran (0-3), Gerard Gilsenan (Capt., 0-2), Conor McCaughey (0-1).

Subs: Philip Drohan for Murray, Jason McHugh for Loughran, Shane Scott for McQuaid, Dessie McGarry for Murphy, Niall Brannigan for Gilsenan.

(Very) Temporary sub: John McCoy!

Other subs: Ryan Shields, Conor Forde, Fionntán Cassidy, Paddy Kelly, Finnian McKenna, Paul Smyth, Colm Shalvey.

We are back to league action tomorrow evening (Friday) with an important game at home to Clones.

The RFL Division 1A team fell to a disappointing defeat in Scotstown last Wednesday. We made a good start, with Ashley White and Brendan McQuaid on target, but even though Ashley kept the scoreboard ticking over from placed balls, Scotstown hit a goal late in the half to lead by 1-8 to 0-7. We could only manage another brace of points from Ashley after the restart, while Scotstown found the net another two times to run out comfortable winners in the end.

Team and scorers: Cónall McKenna; Gary Trappe, Shane Coyle (Capt.), Dean McMahon; Brendan McQuaid (0-1), Conor Devlin, Michael Galligan; Philip Drohan, Stephen Driver; Paul Rushe, Ashley White (0-8, 6f, 1 ’45), Niall Greenan; Jason McHugh, Evan Doherty, Paddy Connolly.

Subs: Carl Foentjies for Greenan, Conor Forde for Rushe, Finnian McKenna for Drohan.

We are at home to Clontibret tomorrow night (Wednesday) – check website for details – while we also host Castleblayney on Sunday.

Minors: Our minors are up against Scotstown tonight (Tuesday). See website for details.

U-16: Our Under-16s have three games in a very busy week: away to Carrickmacross this Thursday, away to Clontibret on Sunday and at home to Scotstown on Tuesday.

U-14: Our Under-14 Division One team travel to Inniskeen on Saturday for a 12 noon throw-in, while at the same time the Division Five team host Clones/Currin. The Division Five team played out a draw with Scotstown last Wednesday.

U-12: Our Under-12 Division 2B team booked their place in the league semi-final with a 2-13 to 2-5 win away to Cremartin last Friday. Ógie Duffy, Adam McGarry and Shay Cooney hit the scores that had our lads ahead after a close first half, but Cremartin rallied after the restart. Ryan McSkeane and Che Treanor both made an impact off the bench, however, while Ógie fired in a great goal and Adam added a couple of points to help the Harps pull away for an important win which secured second place in the table.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Tiarnán O’Rourke, Liam Conway; Nathan Lavery, James McKenny; Dean Doherty (0-1), Brendan Óg Duffy (1-5, 0-1f); Adam McGarry (0-5, 1f), Craig Cooney, Shay Cooney (0-1, ’45).

Subs: Ryan McSkeane (0-1), Che Treanor (1-0), Evan Meehan, Conor Treanor.

The Division 1A team lost to Latton last Tuesday, while the game away to Scotstown, which was scheduled for last Saturday, is now on this Thursday.

Umbrellas: Monaghan Harps umbrellas have been selling well in recent weeks and there are just a few still available, but a new order will soon be made. Contact Séamus McManus at 086 8167928 for more information.

Hurling: The Harps senior hurlers fell just short in an exciting championship final-round group game at home to Inniskeen last Thursday. The final score of 4-7 to 1-17 meant our lads finished fourth in the round-robin series and they will now play Castleblayney in the semi-final at Clontibret this Thursday at 7.45.

The Under-16 and Under-12 fixtures scheduled for Monday were postponed. Training continues every Sunday morning for all age groups.
