Monaghan Harps notes

December 4th, 2012

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 11, 21, 25 and 27. Jackpot of €1,600 not won. Residual prizes: €100 Róisín McMeel c/o Paddy Donnelly; €40 Caoilfhinn and Shea Hennessy c/o Noel Hennessy; €40 Fergus Coyle c/o himself; €40 Mickey Mullen c/o Mick Farrell. Jackpot for Sunday, December 9 is €1,750 and Anne and Adrian Trappe are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in the clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Anyone who has sold a direct-debit is asked to pass the details on to the Lotto committee as soon as possible, so they can be entered into our weekly draw straight away. Thanks to all involved in the Lotto for their ongoing efforts on behalf of the club. The Lotto AGM will take place on Sunday, December 23 at 8.30pm.

Table Quiz: We are hosting a fundraising table quiz in the clubhouse this Friday (December 7) at 8.30pm. We are delighted to again have Séamus Gallagher on board as quizmaster and there will also be spot prizes and traditional Irish music, so a great night is in store. Everyone is welcome and all support would be greatly appreciated for this fundraiser.

Upcoming events: As well as our table quiz tomorrow, we will be hosting our own club Christmas party on Sunday, December 23, which promises to be a great night, so please try to keep the date free. A week later, on December 30, our annual charity match will take place (sponsorship forms are available from Owen Connell or from the clubhouse). The Christmas variety concert is also set to return on St. Stephen’s night. Keep an eye on the club notes and website for more details. The clubhouse is also available to book for Christmas parties and other functions by contacting bar manager Liadhan Treanor at 086 7837204.

Well done: To the St. Macartan’s College MacRory Cup team, who won their MacRory Cup play-off last Friday to qualify for the quarter-finals. Our own Kevin Loughran, Fearghal McMahon and Niall Treanor played central roles. Hard luck to the Corn na nÓg team, who lost out in their semi-final.

Scór: Good luck to Tara Gilsenan, who represents the club in the Ulster Scór na nÓg semi-finals (solo singing) in Silverbridge this Saturday evening.

Team management: Anyone interested in managing one of the club’s juvenile teams in 2013 is asked to forward their names to the football development committee. Expressions of interest regarding underage teams should be sent to Ciarán Mulligan (086 8411275) as soon as possible.

Mouth-guards: It will be compulsory from January 1, 2013 for all players from minor down to wear a mouth guard at both training and matches.
