Round-up (October 21)

October 21st, 2012

 Eurotech

Aghabog and Clones will have to replay the Eurotech Junior Football League Final after they played out a 1-9 apiece draw in Scotstown on Sunday. The lead changed hands a number of times in a topsy-turvy first half which ended with the teams level at 1-5 each, before they shared out eight points in the second half, with two late Clones points securing a second day out.

Maguire Transport Websize

Cúchulains Sarsfields made their second chance count in the Maguire Transport Minor Football Championship Division Three Final Replay at Oram on Sunday. Despite conceding the only goal of the game to Pádraic Keenan (who top-scored with 1-6) in the 19th minute, the Aughnamullen/Toome amalgamation were level at 0-8 to 1-5 by half-time and they went on to win by 0-14 to 1-8, with Aaron Kelly kicking eight points.

Credit-Union-Websize

Ballybay and Magheracloone will contest the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League Final next Sunday after they won Sunday’s semi-finals. Ballybay followed up their SFC success by battling past 14-man Castleblayney. They looked to be cruising when Shane McGuinness hit two goals in the first 20 minutes and Blayney had Paddy Mallon sent off, but they were left hanging on in the end for a three-point win. In contrast, Magheracloone fell six points down in the early stages of their semi away to Clontibret, but they rallied to trail by just a point at half-time and found the net twice in the second half to edge a high-scoring game by 2-15 to 0-19.

Monaghan Electrical

Rockcorry have been promoted to the senior ranks after they defeated Donaghmoyne in their Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League semi-final on Sunday and Doohamlet cruised past Inniskeen in the other one. That means that, regardless of the result of next Sunday’s final, Rockcorry (who finished second behind the O’Neills in the league) will join the championship winners in being promoted.

Monaghan will have at least two teams in the Ulster Club Ladies Football Championship Finals. Magheracloone beat Killeavy in Saturday’s IFC semi-final, while Donaghmoyne B cruised past Milford in the JFC semi.
