SFC: The senior footballers play Ballybay in the championship in Clontibret this Friday at 7.30. Good luck to Mick McCormack, Ciarán Mulligan, Colin Harvey and the players. Please come out to support the team.

SFL: The seniors fell to a one-point defeat at home to Ballybay in the league last Sunday. Points by Emmett McArdle, Donal Hahessy and Conor Galligan got us off to a good start, but Ballybay took over with a couple of goals, although Nicholas Treanor and Neil McAdam kept us in touch. Donal and Liam Hahessy kicked the last two points of the first half, but we still trailed by 2-7 to 0-7 at half-time. Our lads burst out of the blocks at the start of the second half, with seven points in a row: two each from Donal and Liam Hahessy and one each by Nicholas and Gareth Treanor and Nicholas Scott. We only managed one more point from Nicholas Treanor, however, and Ballybay added three to their tally to edge a 2-10 to 0-15 win.

Team and scorers: Conall McKenna; Niall Hahessy, Stephen Driver, Gareth Treanor (0-1); Nicholas Scott (0-1), Conor Galligan (0-1), Aodhán Óg McAnespie; Peter Coyle, Neil McAdam (Capt., 0-1); Emmett McArdle (0-1), Nicholas Treanor (0-3), Paddy Connolly; David Loughran, Donal Hahessy (0-4, 2f), Liam Hahessy (0-3).

Subs: Niall Greenan for Loughran (H-T), Paddy Kelly for Coyle (inj., 55).

Minors: The minor footballers play Killanny in the first round of the championship tonight (Tuesday) and the lads are at home to Castleblayney in their second group game next Tuesday. Best of luck to Maurice Galligan, Pádraig Reilly, Paddy Kelly and the players. All support welcome.

U-16: The Under-16 footballers lost away to Donaghmoyne last Wednesday in the last round of the league. The lads are away to Scotstown this Thursday for the league semi-final, which throws in at 7pm. All support welcome. Best of luck to Brian and Gearóid Lenehan, Nicholas Scott, Gary White and the players.

U-14: Both Under-14 football teams finished on the wrong side of their results last weekend. The Division One team lost away to Truagh on Friday evening. Points by Paul Peppard and Jack Deery were our only scores of the opening quarter, which Truagh dominated. The second quarter produced an improvement, but finishing let our lads down a few times and we had to settle for points by Ethan Murphy and Jack and a goal by Aidan Burns, which came after a great run by Remy McKenna. Truagh hit a couple of late scores to lead by 1-11 to 1-4 at half-time and they took charge in the third quarter. Jack kicked some good points for the Harps, as did Shane McMahon and Cathal Power (after his move outfield), while Remy fired to the net, but Truagh continued to rack up the scores at the other end to run out comfortable winners.

Team and scorers: Cathal Power (0-1); Thomas Croarkin, Soky John; Niall Ward, Niall McManus, Seán McKenna; Shane McMahon (0-2), Paul Peppard (0-1); Jack Deery (0-6, 2f), Remy McKenna (1-0), Ben Kearns-Flynn; Michael Mulligan, Ethan Murphy (0-1f).

Subs: Aidan Burns (1-0) for Flynn, Dylan McAree for Ward, Nathan O’Donoghue for Mulligan, Anthony Greenan for John.

The Division Five team were beaten by Drumhowan on Saturday. Both teams are back in action on August 25 with home games against Donaghmoyne and Fergal O’Hanlons. We wish Conor Duffy a speedy recovery from his recent knee injury.

U-12: Both of our Under-12 football teams will compete in the shield competitions this Saturday. The Division One team are at home to Scotstown and the Division Five lads are away to Carrickmacross. Both games throw in at 12 noon. Best of luck to everyone involved.

All players not yet with tickets are asked to collect from Maurice and support the event and ticket sales as best as possible.

Recreational football: The Over-35/recreational team just missed out on a second piece of silverware in the space of a week when they lost to hosts Truagh in the shield final last Saturday. Well done to everyone who played their part; Dermot will be in touch if there are any more competitions in the coming weeks.

Senior hurling final: We host the Senior Hurling Shield Final between Clontibret and Truagh on Sunday at 1pm. All help welcome.
