GAMES PROMOTION OFFICER

 

COISTE CHONTAEMHUINEACHAIN is seeking to recruit a coach who can deliver school, development squad, summer camp, community development work, disability coaching and some club mentoring support. The post is based on funding for it being retained and will commence immediately. The successful candidate will be contracted to work at locations throughout the County at the Games Development Manager’s discretion and direction. The candidate will be required to do administrative work and he / she must also be prepared to do evening and weekend work. Attendance at GAA and generic coaching courses and conferences in their own time is a requirement.

 

SOME KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST ARE:

A recognised 3rd level qualification (preferably in Sport) at FETAC Level 8 or Level 9 is essential.

GAA Level 1 Coaching Award in Hurling is essential, but preferably a Level 2 GAA Coaching Award. Also holding Level 1 or Level 2 Awards if Football or Handball is an advantage.

Proven experience of coaching children and youths in Hurling & Football.

Experience of Development Squad Coaching and Summer Camp Coaching is desirable.

Experience in Developing Coaching Programmes.

Be capable and competent in verbal and written communication and also in completing a range of administrative tasks both IT and manual.  

 

The successful candidate must stay in the position for a minimum of six (6) months.

The selection process will involve the following process:

Short listing of applicants

For those successful in the short listing process they will complete a Computer Literacy Test which will include Word, Excel, Power point and Database in the content.

Interview

Final selection will be based on a Practical Coaching session.

 

Skills:

Good communicator, Good interpersonal skills, Ability to work as part of a team and take direction. Have the ability and skills to work with children, youths and those with disabilities.

This position will be for 37 hours per week. The salary will be discussed at interview.
