Castleblayney started their defence of the Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling Championship title with a comfortable win over Carrickmacross on Tuesday. The championship, which is being run using a group format this year, also brought comfortable first-round wins for Inniskeen and Clontibret at the expense of Monaghan Harps and Truagh respectively.
Castleblayney moved a point ahead at the top of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division One with a convincing win over Truagh on Wednesday, while their nearest challengers Scotstown and Monaghan Harps played out a draw at Gavan Duffy Park. Meanwhile, Magheracloone edged a high-scoring game away to Latton and Clontibret got a walkover from Tyholland.
RFL Division Two leaders Corduff fell to their second defeat of the year on Wednesday, at home to Ballybay, while there was a draw between joint-second-placed duo Cremartin and Drumhowan. Elsewhere, Doohamlet eased past Donaghmoyne and Carrickmacross got a walkover from Killeevan.
Aughnamullen defeated Seán McDermotts to draw level with them in the race for Division Three semi-final places.
Emyvale had five points to spare at home to Killanny in Division Four and Truagh and Toome conceded to Clones and Éire Óg respectively.
Corduff beat Magheracloone in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under-14 Football Championship Division Two Final on Tuesday, while Toome got the better of Latton in the Division Four Final and Emyvale edged out Fergal O’Hanlons in the Division Five decider.
