Sunday was a day to remember in Clones, as the Monaghan senior and minor footballers won in the Ulster championship on the same day for the first time since 1994. Meanwhile, five Monaghan players were involved in the Ladies Football All-Star Tour exhibition match in Toronto. Gráinne McNally, Sharon Courtney and Christina Reilly made up an all-Monaghan full-back line on the 2011 team, while Therese McNally and Ciara McAnespie (who scored 1-1) were the wing-forwards. The 2010 selection won by 4-10 to 3-11.

Eurotech

Clones moved two points clear at the top of the Eurotech Junior Football League after they won a dramatic game at home to Blackhill on Tuesday evening. Goals by Sarto Quigley, Martin Slowey and Adrian Alford won it for Clones, who had to come from six points down early in the second half to win by 3-11 to 3-8 and get a positive result ahead of this weekend’s championship match against Oram.

 Silver Hill Foods

 

Castleblayney won the inaugural Silver Hill Foods Development Hurling League Final on Thursday evening against Inniskeen in Killanny. Blayney found the net twice in the first half on their way to a 2-14 to 0-12 victory.

There was better news for Inniskeen on Saturday, when they started their Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling League campaign with a win over Clontibret.

Scotstown booked their place in the semi-finals of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championship Crawley Cup with a six-point win over Aghabog on Saturday.

Latton got a walkover from Tyholland in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division One on Friday, while Truagh had a comprehensive win over Monaghan Harps on Saturday.

Corduff stayed three points clear in the RFL Division Two with a high-scoring win over Donaghmoyne on Friday, while Cremartin took control of second place by edging out Doohamlet. Carrickmacross had eight points to spare at home to Ballybay.

Castleblayney and Emyvale played out a high-scoring draw in Division Three on Saturday, while Scotstown edged out Seán McDermotts on Monday.

Éire Óg got the better of Truagh in Division Four on Monday.

There were quarter-finals in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under-14 Football Championships on Tuesday, when there were wins for Corduff (Division Two); Aughnamullen (Division Three); Latton and Toome (Division Four); Aghabog and Feargal O’Hanlons (Division Five) and Clontibret and Truagh (Division Six).
