Seniors

For the past two weeks everyone has been watching to see how we would get on in the senior league.Against both Castleblaney and Ballybay we led at different stages and it was only a combination of a lack of experience and strenght in depth that denied us our first points of the campaign. However all changed on Sunday last in Scotshouse when we deservedly got our first ever win in Senior football. Magheracloone were unique visitors but with a great overall display all present were in agreement that we won on merit. The pace, physicality and intensity of senior football is something that has to be experienced to realise the difference. There were a few sore but satisfied bodies on Monday morning.

Currin team and scorers:- Fergal Connolly, Enda Mc Caffrey, Conor Mc Caffrey, Sean Brady, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, Ben Clerkin, Michael Quigley, Dick Clerkin, Francis O Callaghan, Dara Brady, Niall McEntee, Shane O Connor, Kieran Kearns (0-1), Philip O Callaghan (0-1), Stephen Smith (0-5, 4f). Subs: Stephen Beatty for Dara Brady.

Go Games:  The Currin Club hosted a very successful U10 football blitz on Saturday 21st last. Teams from Eire Og, Killeevan, Aghabog, Tyholland and Currin took part. Football got underway at 10.00 a.m. and each team played 3 games. It was wonderful to see so many children taking part and enjoying themselves, while developing their football skills. Thank you and well done to all who helped out on the day.

Under 14s: In our first league match we had a great win over Rockcorry, also played on Saturday, in Scotshouse. This was a wonderful team effort and some great football skills were displayed. This was the first game of the season so keep it up.  It was great to see so many people there supporting our younger players. Watch the Monaghan GAA website for the fixtures.

Best wishes:

Best wishes to Cian North who played against Ballybay with a serious injury which only came to light in the course of this, his first game. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Ladies Football

Best wishes to Monaghan in their semi final on Sunday next in Drogheda against Dublin. Throw in at 3.00 p.m. A pity it clashes with our senior game. Hopefully they can make it to the final and that Ellen will be ready for that one.
