Corduff Notes

Senior Fixtures: This Sunday 22nd we travel to Doohamlet for a 2pm throw in. On Wednesday 25th  we have a home game against Sean McDermotts. Then on Saturday 28th we take on Donaghmoyne away at 7pm.

Reserve League: Last night Wednesday 18th we took on neighbours Carrickmacross see report next week. Our next game is then not until the 16th May

Senior Results: Corduff  V Inniskeen : Our Seniors started our league campaign last Wednesday night against Inniskeen at home. Corduff got off to a dream start registering 1-2 without reply by the 5th minute. The goal coming from a brilliant pass from Aidan Marron to Declan Larkin which Keith Mc Enaney finished. Martin Mills added another 3 pt leaving the scoreline 1-5 to 0-2 after 17minutes. Three converted frees from Inniskeen reduced the margin before Shane Malone opened up a four point lead again. The sides exchanged scores before the close of the half, with the half time score Corduff 1-08 Inniskeen 0-06. Corduff started the second half bright scoreing four unanswered points  three coming from Brendan Mc Nally and one from Martin Mills, this left the score line Corduff 1-12 Inniskeen 0-06. Inniskeen started their revival scoring 1-1 in quick reply. Corduff pulled two point back but Inniskeen ended strong and ran out winners on a scoreline Corduff 1-14 Inniskeen 2-11.  Corduff V Cremartin : Last Sunday we then travelled to Cremartin to try and register our first two points of the league.  The sides were evenly matched in the first 15 minutes with the score level with two points each, but then Cremartin pushed forward leaving the half time score 1-06 to 0-02. Corduff rallied hard in the second half but it wasn’t enough and Cremartin ran out winners on the narrowest of margins with a final score of Corduff 11P to Cremartin 1-09

 

 

Minor Football League: We opened our campaign last Tuesday night against Doohamlet at home. The away side opened the scoreing first by converting a free. Corduff responded well and score 1-0 unanswered. The goal coming after a combination of work from Niall Hand, Blain Mc Enaney,Gavin Mc Enaney and finished by Padraic Keenan. Killian Kelly went on to add two points for Corduff, leaving the score line Corduff 1-03 Doohamlet 0-01. The teams exchanged points for the remaining of the half with Corduff leading by the narrowest of margins, half time score Corduff 1-06 Doohamlet 0-09. Doohamlet again opened the second half quickest scoring 2 unanswered points. Corduff responded scoring 1-05 without reply leaving the score Corduff 2-11 Doohamlet 0-11.  Doohamlet pulled a goal back leaving it for an exciting finish. Final Score Corduff 2-15 Doohamlet 1-16. Last  Tuesday 17th we travelled to Blackhill see report next week.

Under 12 Fixtures: Last Saturday we welcomed Killeevan to Corduff.  After a strong first quarter the home side led on a scoreline of Corduff 0-06 Killeevan 0-02. The team put up a great performance with limited playes and showed real passion and determination. We ran out winners on a scoreline Corduff 0-15 Killeevan 0-05 This Saturday 14thApril we welcome Killeevan to Corduff. Our next game is on the 28th of April we finish the league away to Rockcorry.

Under 14 Fixtures: This Saturday we start our Under 14 campaign away to Castleblaney. Good luck to the team and management. Then on the 5th May we welcome Killanny to Corduff.

Under 16: Last Thursday we started our league campaign away to  Eire Og away.  The teams exchanged scores in the opening minutes Corduff’s coming from Mark Treanor in the 2nd minute. The sides were level again twice by the 12th minute, before Daniel Mc Donald rattled the Eire Óg net twice in the 14th and 19th minutes. Leaving the score Corduff 2-3 to 0-05 after 21min.  Eire Og scored two goals in the closing stages of the half leaving the half time score Corduff 2-04 Eire Og 2-06. Eire Og extended their lead at the opening of the second half but Corduff worked well and chipped away at their scores with two late goals earning us a draw on a scoreline Corduff 6-09 Eire Og 5-12. This Thursday the  19th we welcome Blackhill to Corduff.

Our u6,u8,u10 training continued last Saturday morning with a great turnout. We are gearing up to our first go game outing. If there is any other children out there who would like to join and have a bit of fun and activity you can attend Saturday morning at 10am-to11.15am.

 

Congratulations:  To Mark Traynor, Adrian Connolly and Eamonn Marron who qualified as a young referee for the upcoming Go Games, This is a great achievement for these boys and the club is lucky to be represented by these 3 individuals.

Congratulations: To Cian Callan and Marc Keenan, who was Corduff’s  two  represent ivies at Monaghan’s Under 12 activity day in Croke park.

Good Luck: To Monaghan Minor team this Saturday in the Ulster Minor league Semi Final.
