Club Notes

Clontibret

Well last Saturday proved to be a rather busy camogie day in Clontibret as our seniors trained for the first time in a long time on a Saturday –  God be with the days when as little ‘chisslers’ you all congregated at 11 am and stayed until you had to be chased home!!! Helen joined the girls for the session before heading back to London and showed how she is as fit as ever and hasn’t lost a bit of her skill. In fact, last year she collected both League and Championship football medals in London.

Our Mums trained at 4pm and now that Ciara has a pair of boots the tempo of the little match was electric!!! In fact Croke Park will soon be too small for these ladies! Best wishes to Marie McKenna who has a back injury at present but hopes to return shortly.

At 6pm a number of our players, both senior and U-14, welcomed ‘Rith 2012’ into Clontibret and escorted it through the village before passing the baton to the pupils of Scoil Mhuire who, having completed their 1k, passed it to Dessie and the lads from the local GAA Club. Many thanks to all who helped with the event. However 2 ‘athletes’ who caught the eye during the relay were 2 ‘Mammies’ – Terri and Patricia – who not only jogged with the pupils of Scoil Mhuire, but carried the school banner as well!  Contracts are being drawn up and it is hoped that both ladies will sign-up at the next ‘Mum without Me’ session on Monday, March 19th at 2.30pm!!

Training for our seniors will take place this Friday evening at 7.30pm and it is hoped to have another session on Monday at 4pm. Players are delighted with the news that John Green has signed up (again!) to replace Aidan as senior trainer, when he heads off to Australia at the end of this month. John of course is no stranger to the job having served a 3 year term prior to heading ‘Down Under’ in August 2010.

Our primary school players train each Tuesday at 6pm in the Community Centre and, commencing on Tuesday 20th March, our U-14’s/U-16’s will train straight after them, from 7 – 8pm.

Finally, Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona dhaoibh go léir!
