Residual prizes: €100 Mary McRory c/o Philomena Hughes; €40 Mary Donohue c/o Nicholas Treanor; €40 Oisín Reilly c/o Ladies Club; €40 Bosco Skeath c/o Liz Brennan. The Lotto takes a short break this Sunday for Christmas, but it will return on January 2 and tickets for this draw can be left into the clubhouse on the day before 6pm or on December 31 between 3 and 11. Jackpot for Monday, January 2 is €2,500. Thanks to all involved for their tireless work in 2011 and we hope 2012 is another successful year for the Lotto.

Charity match: The club’s annual charity match will take place on the first bank holiday of the new year, Monday, January 2, with Hugh Coyle throwing the ball in at 2.30pm. This is always a great day out over the Christmas season and supports worthy causes. As ever, the game will feature representatives of all sections of the club, with current players having to wear wellies and/or fancy dress! Everyone is welcome to the clubhouse afterwards to make a day of it, with the Lotto draw going ahead at 6.30. Sponsorship forms are available from Owen Connell so contact him at 086 2453390 or call into the clubhouse if you want to take part.

Monaghan Harps Christmas Variety Concert: This takes place on St. Stephen’s night, December 26, in the clubhouse from 7-9pm, followed by an open session till late. Light refreshments will be served. Admission costs just €5 and everyone is welcome! Tickets are available from the clubhouse, McConnon’s shop and the Cosy Bar. For more information, contact the club’s Cultural Officer Gerard Clerkin at 086 8535992.

Owen McCooey RIP: Club members were saddened by the death of Owen McCooey in the early hours of last Friday morning. A resident of Old Cross Square, a former nurse in St. Davnet’s and a Harps supporter, Owen was a regular attendee of the Lotto every Sunday night until his recent illness. We offer our sympathies to Owen’s family. The club also sympathises with the Hetherington family on the recent death of John. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Championship draws: We have been drawn against Truagh in the preliminary round of the 2012 Senior Football Championship and we will start our O’Duffy Cup campaign away to Doohamlet.

Collection: Thanks to everyone who braved the cold weather to help out at our church-gate collection last weekend.

Season’s greetings: Happy Christmas to all our members, players and supporters and best wishes for 2012. Thanks to everyone who played their part on and off the pitch this year.

Get well soon: To club minor Kevin Loughran, who was hospitalised recently.

Yearbook: The Official Monaghan GAA Yearbook is now on sale and would make an ideal Christmas present. The publication gives a comprehensive review of all Monaghan GAA activity in 2011, records the fortunes of Monaghan county teams in all codes and recounts the story of the various club championships within the county, as well as featuring articles on each club. A number of copies are available from the club, so contact the clubhouse or Liadhan Treanor if interested.

Aido file: For all involved in the hurling club, our annual Christmas get-together is on Wednesday, December 28. The plan of attack is to start in Tír na nÓg and see where God takes us after that. Hopefully by the end of it we’ll have someone to take us home!

Quiz: Belated thanks to Alan, Charley, Paul and Eamon for entertaining the crowd with traditional music before our quiz on Friday week last.

Clubhouse: The Gavan Duffy Park clubhouse, which offers a comfortable lounge and function-room and ample car-parking space, is available to book for parties and functions, by contacting Liadhan Treanor at 086 7837204.
