CURRIN SONS OF ST PATRICK : is the oldest known GAA club in Co. Monaghan.  The GAA generates parochial pride and fosters a local identity, and this year Currin celebrates their 125 years of unbroken affiliation to the GAA.  Their loyalty and service has made these 125 year celebrations possible.  Join us for our Celebration Dance on Saturday 19th November in Kilmore Hotel to celebrate our long and proud history, to catch up with old friends and team mates and to enjoy what we promise will be a very special night that will live long in all our memories.  Some tickets still available from committee members.

Game against Drumhowan on Saturday 10th: Played at Drumhowan, Result Drumhowan 3-06 Currin 1-20
A game played in very difficult conditions with strong winds blowing. The first half against the wind the lads played well, although after twenty minutes they were 5 points down. Currin responded with Phillip O’Callaghan scoring a goal.  By half time they were 1 point ahead.  In the second half with the wind in their favour they played well, scoring some great points from distance. Philip O’Callaghan and Jack McCarron were both outstanding in both halves. Currin won by 8 points and deserved to do so. SCOTSHOUSE

Dancing –  Social and Old time lessons begin again on Mondays from 9.00 to 11.00pm starting next Monday 19th September.  Come along and enjoy yourselves, Bring your friends with you.

Parish of Currin Church of Ireland:  Floral Arrangement.  Demonstration on Friday 16th September in the Scotshouse Community Centre at 8.00pm sharp.  Tickets  €10.

Millinery Workshop: As part of the year of Craft Celebrations Clones Library are hosting a crafting conversations evening in association with the Crafts Council of Ireland.  Davina Lynch, award winning milliner will be joining us on Monday the 19th September at 6.30pm for a talk and demonstration on her craft.  Those attending will have the opportunity to hear about Davina’s career and will be encouraged to engage with her craft by examining the materials used.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet one of our top craftspeople in the region and will provide them with a unique opportunity to get an insight into the creative design process.

Service for the late Garda Adrian Martin:  There will be a change of date for this service, it will NOT be held on the 27th September.  A later date will be advertised when it has been decided.

I.C.A Famine night in Clones: Thanks to Noreen Brady and Geraldine O’Connor who were responsible for being the key organisers this event. This was a well attended event put on by ICA Guilds of Clones, Aghabog and Scotshouse with invited participating guests.  Donations for the evening came to over €750.  This will be donated to World Famine.  Thanks to all who supported the event and who donated so generously.

Famine Commemoration Walk:  This walk took place on Thursday last. Seventeen supporters walked the route from Scotshouse to the Famine Graveyard where they met with other walkers from the Clones Poor Law Union areas.  Lead walker Louise Crothers, carried a sapling which was then planted in the graveyard during a short service.  Thanks to all the walkers who participated.
