€5,000 Lotto Jackpot winner: Congratulations to yearly ticket holder, Seamus McKenna-Dungillick, who collected his winning cheque last Sunday. There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €1,000. The numbers were: 2, 3, 5, 14. There was 2 match 3 winners: Colm Donaghue & Deirdre O’Donaghue-Emyvale. Next week’s jackpot is €1,200. Next weeks check team: Roisin’s team. More money on offer this week is the ladies run thousand euro drop this Saturday night in St. Mellans. Should be a good night.

Seniors: We lost at home to Clontibret last Sunday 0-11 to 1-12. The game started evenly with 6 points shared between the sides after 10 minutes. Clontibret then moved ahead for the first time in the game scoring 1-1 after 16 minutes. We proceeded to take command of the game and went into half time 1 point up after recording 5 successive points to leave the scores 0-8 to 1-4. Our challenge waned in the second half however, with most of the ball being played in our own half. We scored 3 points against Clontibret’s 8 to finish on the losing side of a 0-11 to 1-12 scoreline. Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; Niall McQuillan, Niall Feely, Eoghan Kelly; Damien McRory, Barry Cuddy, Rory Treanor; Niall McMeel, Neil McRory (0-1); Keith Sheerin, Daniel McKenna (0-3f), Padraig McKenna; Christopher McKenna (0-4, 1f), Gary Feely (0-1), Mark Counihan (0-2). Subs used: Pauric Treanor for Keith Sheerin (18mins), Sean McKenna for Gary Feely (55mins), John McCarron for Barry Cuddy (61mins) & Darren Todd for Padraig McKenna (61mins). We revert our attention back to the championship this Sunday evening in Clontibret were we take on Ballybay at 7.30pm. Get well soon to Keith Sheerin who picked up an injury in this game.

Reserve Div. 1 (B’s): Our next game is away to Magheracloone on Friday 26th August at 7.15pm.

Reserve Div. 3 (C’s): Our next game is against Emyvale in St. Mellans on Friday 19th August at 7.30pm.

Reserve Div. 4 (D’s): We were due to play Killanny last night, Wednesday. We follow this with a match at home to Emyvale on Monday 15th August at 7.30pm.

Minors: We were due to play Monaghan Harps last Tuesday evening. Our next match is an away game to Scotstown on Tuesday 16th August at 7.30pm.

Strictly Come Dancing: Comes to Truagh this autumn. Keep free Friday 28th October for the final.

Congratulations: to senior player, Kevin Treanor, who got married to Belinda ‘she’s from Killeevin, oooh oooh’ Mullen last weekend. It was the first occasion Kevin was seen to be happy receiving cards, albeit this time they weren’t yellow or red.

Club Shop: The club shop will is now open each Tuesday between 6.30pm-7.30pm and every Thursday and Friday evening between 7-8pm.

U-6s: Coaching continues this Saturday at 10am for 4, 5 & 6 year old boys and girls in St. Mellans. Indoor area will be used in the event of bad weather. All welcome.

U-8s & U-10s: travelled to Smithboro last Thursday evening for 2 challenge games. Well done to all involved. Training continues each Thursday 7-8pm in St. Mellans. We will be taking part in our u10s blitz this Saturday 13th of August in St Mellans. The blitz starts at 9am.

U-12s: Our next a1 game is away to Monaghan Harps on Thursday 11th August at 8pm. Bus leaves St. Mellans at 7pm.  Our next game for the u12s a2 team is away to Emerald Sarsfields on Friday 12th August in Blackhill at 8pm. Bus leaves St. Mellans at 6.30pm. Training continues as per management.

U-14s: play away to Cremartin this Saturday 13th of August at 12pm. Bus leaves St. Mellans at 11am. Training continues as per management.

U-16s: Our next game is against Emyvale in the league semi final on Thursday 18th of August. Training continues as per management.

Truagh U-10 blitz: takes place Saturday 13th of August in St. Mellans. We have 24 teams competing for the John Treanor (Paddy) memorial cup and shield. Anyone willing to help out with field duties or catering, text your name to Sean McGinn on 0863388638. Anyone who has put their name forward for field duties please be at St. Mellans at 9am. Anyone who volunteered for catering, please be in St. Mellans at 11am.

Camogie:

Seniors: Training continues tomorrow at 7.30pm and on Monday at 7.30pm. Our next game is on the 9th of September when we take on Inniskeen in the final round of the league.

Juveniles: Juvenile training on Saturday at 11am. Gillian, Sharon and Mairead are on duty this week.  New players are very welcome.

Lucky Square: Congratulations to Seamus Sherry who was last week’s winner of the lucky square.  Could anyone that owes for the lucky square please see Majella. Thank you to all who support.

 

Ladies Football:

U12’s: Our girls have reached the final of this competition. We are due to play Carrickmacross . Date, venue & time to be confirmed.

U-14’s: Training continues as per management.

U-16’s: The final of this competition is soon to be played. Training continues as per management.

Minors: We welcome our new Minor management for the year: Martin Woods, Peter Magaharan, Kenny Mohan & Sharon McMeel. League due to start the first week in September.

Senior A’s: Suffered a defeat in the league last Monday against Donaghmoyne. Our B’s had a very convincing win over Emyvale. Training continues as per management.

THOUSAND EURO DROP: €€€€ All roads lead to St. Mellans this Saturday 13th August for our annual fundraiser. Find yourself 8 questions away from €1000. Get your ticket this week or on the night to be in with a chance. Music till late be DJ Darren. Refreshments will be served. Promises to be a great night.

 

Hurling:

 

Seniors: Our seniors play away to Clontibret tonight, Thursday in the league. Throw in 7.30pm.

Minors: Our minors travel to Clontibret this Sunday in the league. Throw in 12pm. Leaving Mellans at 11am.

U-16s: Play away to Clontibret next Monday. Throw in 8.00pm. Training continues on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm.

U-12s: Play away to Clontibret next Monday evening. Bus leaving Mellans at 5.30pm. Training continues on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm. Anyone interested in starting hurling are welcome along.

Congratulations: to our Handball Secretary Kevin who got married last weekend to Belinda. It was a great day’s crack had by all and everyone in the club would like to wish Kevin and Belinda all the best in the future.
