CLUB NOTES

28th June 2011

Sympathy

On behalf of the club may I extend our deepest sympathies to the Clarke family, Clontibret, on the recent passing of Pat Clarke. Pat was involved in GAA for the best part of his life and was captain of the Monaghan team in 1956 that captured the All Ireland junior football championship trophy and he was inducted into the Monaghan GAA Hall of Fame in 1998 for his contribution towards Monaghan football.  Ar dheis De go raibh a anam

Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League

Our seniors are back in action tomorrow evening (Friday 1st July) when they play host to Sean McDermotts, in the Monaghan Electrical intermediate league campaign. The game has a throw-in time of 8pm. During the week I caught up with vice-captain of the team Gary Calvert and he urged his fellow team mates to banish the bad memories of the recent championship and league games and look ahead to the match on Friday night with a view to putting in a much improved display. He said “the lads know that they face a very difficult test against Sean McDermott’s and they will present tough opposition but we have had plenty of time to regroup and we just have to put in a decent performance”. He continued by saying “the lads have great passion and pride and have a great appetite for playing and are determined to put in a performance to get back on the winning track”. Let’s hope the lads can rekindle the fighting spirit and the quality off football we all know they are capable of producing to ensure the right result. Best of luck lads.
