Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 3, 7, 12 and 20. Jackpot of €1,150 not won. Residual prizes: €100 Nicholas and Gareth Treanor c/o Nicholas Treanor; €40 Shauna O’Sullivan c/o Brian O’Sullivan (Hurling Club); €40 Paul Connolly c/o himself; €40 Bernadette Corrigan c/o Paddy McCabe’s shop. Jackpot for Sunday, March 20 is €1,300. Lotto draw takes place in the clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome.

Reserves: There was disappointment all round last weekend as both Reserve Football League games were postponed due to the return of the snow. The O’Duffy Cup team are at home to Castleblayney this Sunday.

Quiz: We are hosting a fundraising quiz this Wednesday (March 16), starting at 8.30pm. The cost of entering a team of four is €40. All support is welcome for what promises to be an enjoyable and entertaining night.

St. Patrick’s Day: Our juveniles will be taking part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Monaghan town. All Under-10s are asked to meet at Gavan Duffy Park at 2.30pm. There will be traditional music in the clubhouse afterwards from 5pm to 7pm, provided by club members. All welcome. Beannachtaí na féile Pádraig oraibh!

Saturday-morning coaching: The Saturday-morning coaching for Under-10s was also postponed, but it will resume this Saturday. All seven- to ten-year-olds are welcome to come along to the sessions.

Membership: The deadline for paying registration fees for 2011 is fast approaching. All club supporters must be paid-up members by the end of this month to ensure they have voting rights. Membership fees of €20 can be paid to registrar Maurice Galligan c/o Cosy Bar or to Liadhan Treanor in the clubhouse. Please note that all players must be paid-up members of the club.

Minors/U-16: The club’s minor and Under-16 footballers continue their preparations for the upcoming season with challenges against Burren in Down this Saturday.

U-14: Good luck to the club’s Under-14 teams, who both begin their league campaigns on Saturday. The Division One team are away to Seán McDermotts, while the Division Five team travel to Currin. Both games throw in at 12 noon.

U-12: Unfortunately, the Under-12 challenge matches against St. Vincent’s from Dublin, which were planned for last Sunday, were also victims of the weather.

Blitzes: The Under-13s competed in a blitz in Cloghan recently and while they didn’t win silverware, they competed well and showed plenty of promise. The Under-15 blitz scheduled for last week was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

County minors: Well done to Michael Galligan, who has been named on the county minor football panel. The first competitive game of the year for Colin McAree and his team is away to Down on Saturday week (March 26).

County teams: Good luck to Ado McAnespie and the county Under-21 footballers, who play Derry in the Ulster championship first round in Inniskeen on Wednesday, March 16 at 8pm and good luck to the county senior footballers, who play Down in Newry on Saturday evening.

Club merchandise: Club gear (hoodies and rain jackets) can be ordered by email from Lorcan McAdam at secretary.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie.

Sympathy: At the club’s monthly meeting for March, votes of sympathy were passed to the families of Eileen Morgan’s brother, Michael Treanor and Darren Doyle’s mother, Geraldine.

Club history: A comprehensive history of the club is currently being uploaded to our club website, courtesy of Mick Farrell. See www.monaghanharps.gaa.ie.

Aido File: Happy birthday to Clara Morgan, who celebrated her birthday last week. Clara has been training in the Jim Dalton school of hurling regularly of late and has risen up the ranks as one of our top two camogie players! All club members are wished a happy St. Patrick’s Day and reminded the more pints of the black stuff you drink, the longer the laps feel!

Handball: Monaghan Harps juveniles proved successful once again when they won three Ulster Juvenile titles. Simonas Seskevicius beat Brian McAnenly of Armagh over three close games to win the Under-14 Singles; Ramunas Ramanauskas and Mantas Zalikas beat Aaron Owens and Jack Campbell of Tyrone over two games to win the Under-15 Doubles title; and Terry McElvaney and Christopher McKenna won the Minor Doubles title with a two-game victory over Tyrone’s Conor McElduff and James Loughran. The Under-12 Singles final between Cailean Myles and Tyrone’s Turlough Clarke has been refixed for the Harps court on Friday, March 18 at 8pm. Good luck Cailean. Support would be appreciated. We send congratulations to our fellow clubs who were also successful in Ulster. Our Community Games players and also several of our young Primary school players won various county finals last week also. Well done to Ryan, Cailean, Conor, James, Albertas and of course, our mascot, Justas.
