Handball:

All Ireland Final beckons: Our Handball team has reached the ‘B’ All Ireland Final after a narrow semi-final victory last Sunday in St.Comans, Roscommon. First in the alley for us was Christopher (PJ) who lost out to John Noonan on a score of 9-21 12-21. Then the doubles of Ian and Eamon took to the court and were paired against John Kennelly and Pat Murphy. Both pairs shared the spoils at 15-21 and 21-12 leaving Keith to settle the match. Keith won the first 21-18 and then pulled off one of the games of his life leaving, winning on a score line of 21-2 which left the team winning on score line of 99 to 95.

This was a great achievement by all players. Well done lads, now hopefully you all now can finish the job off and take home another All Ireland title for the club. The final is penciled in for next Saturday the 8th. Opposition, venue and time TBC. Keep an eye on the Handball website and we will inform all club members via text as soon as the information is available.

Juveniles: are back up and running each Tuesday and Thursday. We have entered players into the county singles championships. A full list of those players entered are listed on the notice boards at St Mellans, so we ask all players to get as much practise as possible and would ask parents to help out with them as much as they can.

County Nov 3 and Nov 4 fixtures: are now on display at the St Mellans notice board. Please fulfil all fixtures and if unable to do so ring your opponent and inform him.

Blitz: Frank would like to thank all those who participated in the blitz during the Christmas break. The winner of the cup was Barry McGuirk, with runner-up being Orla McMeel. Winner of the plate was Jonathan McKenna while the runner-up was Niall Coyle. Frank would like to thank Millwood Furniture for sponsoring the tournament. All proceeds on the day are to go to Truagh Special Needs.

TG4 Handball: Keep all eyes peeled for the new handball series which has started on TG4 and runs every Monday evening at 8:30pm throughout January.

Mono League: will be concluding very shortly, so any outstanding games must be played now to avoid any disappointments.
