Last Monday saw the Kellogg’s Cul Camp’s continue to gather pace with four camps taking place in Inniskeen, Castleblayney, Monaghan Harps and Emyvale. Once again, we had huge numbers in attendance. In Emyvale 211  boys and girls took part, there was 201 children in Castleblayney, a massive 213  children attended the Monaghan Harps camp while in Inniskeen, they had their largest camp so far with 196 children attending there. Credit must go to the clubs for the fantastic effort they put in promoting the camps in the weeks leading up to this past week.

 

The children got to experience the full enjoyment of a Kellogg’s Cul Camp with a full range of fun games and activities throughout the week. Each of the participants who attended the camps got an opportunity to play football, hurling, camogie, rounders and in some camps, handball.

 

All of the camps had a visit from county goalkeeper Rory Beggan. Rory attended all four camps over the week, where he completed a number of different challenges against the children. This seemed to go down well with the children and it’s something to look out for at the remainder of the camps.

 

Monaghan Coaching & Games would like to thank the host clubs for providing their excellent facilities throughout the week, and for facilitating the storage of equipment for the week also. Furthermore they would like to thank camp co-ordinators, coaches, parents and children for their help in ensuring the camps were a success.

 

We will have five camps being delivered across Monaghan this week coming, starting bright and early on Monday morning in Killanny, Ballybay, Truagh, Eire Og and Aghabog. The kit and backpack for the ‘walk-ins’ will not be available until the end of August. This is due to such a large increase in the number of children attending the camps nationally.

 

The cost of the camp is €60 for the first child, €50 for the second child and €40 for every child after that. Each child received a free backpack, half zip training top and a Cul Camps jersey.
