Flag Day: Our annual Juvenile Club collection took place throughout the town last weekend. The response from club members and supporters was above and beyond previous years and the time and effort of all involved is greatly appreciated. Thanks on behalf of the club to everyone who supported in any way, including Frank McEnaney and the Westenra Hotel, who helped accommodate us with our meeting point in The Diamond.

Seniors: Our senior footballers had a good win away to Magheracloone last Sunday. Dónal and Liam Hahessy, Fearghal McMahon and goal-scorer Nicholas Treanor were on target in the first half to give us a1-9 to 1-6 lead and we pulled away after the restart, with Conor Galligan, Dónal, Liam and Fearghal on target and Nicholas getting his second goal. Dean Fanning also found the net and fellow substitute Éimhín Morahan added his name to the scoresheet and although Magheracloone hit back with a couple of goals, we regained control to secure a 3-18 to 3-8 victory.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Niall Hahessy, David Hughes, Gareth Treanor; Conor Galligan (Capt., 0-1), Nicholas Scott, Kevin Loughran; Stephen Driver, Peter Coyle; Dónal Hahessy (0-6, 3f), Nicholas Treanor (2-0), Michael Galligan; Liam Hahessy (0-3), Shane Smyth, Fearghal McMahon (0-5, 1f).

Our next game is away to Castleblayney on Sunday week (July 12).

Reserves: Our reserve teams both had away wins last week, starting with the RFL Division 1B game in Tyholland last Wednesday. We started brightly, with Éimhín Morahan leading the scoring and although Tyholland rallied, we managed to stay ahead with Carl Foentjies finding the net and Niall Treanor, Paul Rushe, Conor Forde and Michael Galligan also among the scorers. Éimhín and Michael kicked some fine scores in the second half, as we claimed a 1-18 to 1-13 win, which leaves us joint-top of the table.

Team: Ronan McGann; Robbie Moyna, Gareth Treanor, Niall Treanor; Conor Forde, Carl Foentjies, Turlough Clerkin; Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Dónal McCarthy; Paul Rushe (Capt.), Cónall McKenna, Colm Shalvey; Michael Galligan, Éimhín Morahan, John Mulligan.

Subs: Conor Devlin for Mulligan (inj.), Francis Lynch for Devlin (inj.).

We stayed in contention in the RFL Division Three also on a 1-13 to 0-8 scoreline at Emyvale on Sunday. Johnny Sherry made his return in one of a number of changes, while Reece Treanor and Conor O’Neill later made their debuts as subs. With the likes of Robbie Moyna and Conor Forde driving us on and our forwards chipping in with scores, we led throughout, changing ends with a 1-6 to 0-4 advantage and staying on top in the second half to make it back-to-back league wins.

Team: Ronan McGann; Conor Forde, Ahmed Gamal; Paul Smyth, Johnny Sherry, Marc Brennan; Robbie Moyna (Capt.), Turlough Clerkin; James McKenna, Colm Shalvey, Francis Lynch; John Treanor, David Carey.

Subs: Gary Murray for Lynch, Thomas Bourke for Forde, Niall Duffy for Brennan, Reece Treanor for Carey, Conor O’Neill for J Treanor.

We are back in Emyvale for a Division 1B game on Sunday. Check online for time.

U-21: Our Under-21s play Killeevan at home in the preliminary round of the Division One knock-out competition this Thursday at 7.45pm.

Minor: After the exam break, our minor footballers host Scotstown in the first game of the Division One league shield on Tuesday, July 7. We have been drawn away to Truagh in a championship quarter-final on Tuesday, July 21.

U-16: The Under-16 Football League Division One resumes after the exam break with an away game against St. Patrick’s in Ballybay this Thursday. This will be followed next Thursday by a championship quarter-final away to Scotstown.

U-14: In a busy week for our Under-14s, our Division Four team lost out to a very strong Tyholland side in their championship final at Blackhill last Tuesday. After conceding two early goals, 1-2 by Terence McDonald and a point from Deivydas Kaklauskas brought us level, but although Adam McGarry and Terence added points, Tyholland’s goal threat gave them the edge. Our lads continued to work hard throughout, with Terence, Dylan Ballantine, Liam Conway and Tiarnán O’Rourke showing well, but some missed opportunities and an injury to Dean Doherty hurt our chances and Tyholland pulled away to run out convincing winners in the end.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Brian McAteer, Mujtaba Gamal; Dean Doherty, Liam Conway; Jamie McCarron (Capt.), Tiarnán O’Rourke; Terence McDonald (1-4), Dylan Ballantine; Adam McGarry (0-2, 1f), Deivydas Kaklauskas (0-1).

Subs used: Shea Treanor, Ryan Leonard, Nathan Lavery, Lukas Virfilas, Killian Treanor, Kamile Parszywka.

The lads bounced back with a league win at home to Cremartin on Thursday. A flying start saw Shea Treanor, Terence McDonald, Dylan Ballantine and Adam McGarry get on the scoresheet and we went on to lead by 4-4 to 1-5 at half-time. Our lads were on top throughout the second half, with Terence, Adam, Dylan and Shea all adding to their tallies and Deivydas Kaklauskas hitting a couple of points.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; James McKenny, Lukas Virfilas; Liam Conway, Mujtaba Gamal; Dylan Ballantine (1-2), Jamie McCarron (Capt.); Brian McAteer, Terence McDonald (1-3, 0-1f); Adam McGarry (1-1), Shea Treanor (1-2, 0-1f).

Subs used: Deivydas Kaklauskas (0-2), Ryan Leonard, Killian Treanor.

Our Under-14s then travelled to Banagher, Co Derry on Saturday to take part in Ulster Féile. First up, we took on our hosts and claimed a convincing win. Points by Stephen Ward, Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Luke Coyle, Killian Conlon and Nathan Lavery had us in command at half-time and further points by Conor Devlin, Nathan and Stephen, along with goals from Adam McGarry, Ógie and Shea Treanor made the final score 3-8 to 0-1. Our second game was against Rasharkin from Antrim, when goals by Deivydas Kaklauskas and Mujtaba Gamal and a Stephen Ward point made it 3-1 to 0-1 at half-time. A point by Ógie and further goals by Mujtaba and Deivydas saw us run out winners by 6-2 to 1-3. That made our final game against Moortown a winner-takes-all clash. We failed to get going in the first ten minutes and found ourselves trailing by seven points, but we were a different team after the restart, piling the pressure on our Tyrone opponents. Adam McGarry, Killian Conlon and Anann Connor kicked points to close the gap, but we were unable to get the goals we needed and we lost out in the end by 2-3 to 0-3 against the eventual runners-up. Well done to the lads on encouraging performances

The Under-14 FL Division One resumes with an away game against Scotstown this Saturday.

U-12: Our Under-12 Division Four team returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory at home to Rockcorry last Saturday. Eoin O’Hanlon, Luke McManus, Oisín Reilly, Fionán Ó Gallchóir, Morgan Coyle, Shea Swift and Oisín Treanor were all on target as our lads built up a big lead in the first half and they all continued to chip in with scores, as did Cian Bradley, as the Harps team stayed in touch with the top four in the league.
