U14/U16

Commiserations to our U14 girls who suffered their only competitive defeat of the year when they lost to Carrickmacross in the county final last week. The opening half proved to be a very competitive affair. We led by two points after the first quarter and at the break we found ourselves behind by the same margin. We started the second half brightly and drew level on the scoreboard with our opponents but then we conceded a couple of opportunistic goals in quick succession which left us fighting an uphill battle to the finish and despite the best efforts of all of our girls we were unable to bridge this gap. Despite this defeat this group of girls deserve tremendous credit for all their hard work and effort throughout this year and they were worthy county finalists. Team and scorers were Laura Mc Kenna, Megan Markey, Emma Mc Aree, Meabh Mc Cluskey, MeganMc Quaid, Sarah Mc Meel, Morgan Mc Kenna(1-4), Aoife Mc Quillan, Ethna Boyle, Clodagh Mc Meel (1-1), Aoibhinn Treanor, Tara Mc Meel, Colleen Mc Gee, Aoife Tierney, Shannon Kelly, Eabha Campbell, Caoimhe Mc Caffrey.

Also wishing a speedy recovery to Siobhan Coyle who was unable to play any part in our U14 county final due to a recent ankle injury.
Training for all U14/U16 girls continues every Tuesday and Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm. All players are expected to attend.
