50:50 Draw Week
Congrats to Edel O’Reilly on winning the 50:50 draw this week. €445 or 39,719 Indian Rupees
This week’s draw was sponsored Upholstery Services Ballybay.
Bingo:
Fancy paying for Christmas in one night? The jackpot on Tuesday Dec 13th is €9,350 from 45 calls or less.
Under 15 Presentation:
The Under 15’s are having their medal presentation on Friday 16th in the Clubhouse. Time will be confirmed on social media.
Annual Awards:
The Annual Volunteer of the Year and Championship 15 Team will be presented with their awards on Thursday Dec 15th at 7.30 in The Four Seasons Hotel.
We have 8 players on the Championship 15; Ryan, Drew, Colm, Eoin, Dessie, Shane, Chris and Paul. This is a record for a football team since the awards started. Although I may have made that up!
The Volunteer of Year for Ballybay this year is JJ Duffy.
JJ has held many and varied roles as a volunteer for Ballybay Pearse Brothers over the years. In fact, it would be hard to find someone who helped out in so many vastly different roles that required so many different skills. He was a mentor for juveniles in the 80’s and some of the older players who featured in this years Championship win would have taken their first footballing steps under JJ’s tutelage.

He was also a club committee member for many years. In addition to this he was Vice Chairman of Monaghan’s Bord na Og in the early 90’s.
In 1987, JJ was the man with the “magic sponge” when the club closed an 18 year gap in winning Senior Championship.
JJ was also Groundsman for Pearse Park when the pitch was being used nearly everyday for various matches. It was only JJ’s hardwork and care that kept the pitch playable.
But JJ’s finest contribution for the club was his time as a referee. He was well respected for his knowledge of the rules, fitness and his fair play.
Sadly, ill health has curtailed JJ’s contribution in recent years but he is a very deserving recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award.
Dinner Dance:
It’s time to dust of the glad rags and get ready to party like its 2012. The dinner dance will be in the Kilmore Hotel on February 11th. Medal Presentation to the Senior Team and the Hall of Fame will be held on the night. Details about tickets, travel arrangements etc will be announced in the coming weeks.
