Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 28/11/2022
Senior Ladies: The Faugh’s Senior Ladies 2022 adventure unfortunately came to an end on Sunday in the far away hills of Ballyvourney. The Faugh’s club would like to thank everyone who supported and helped them in any way throughout the year and particularly in the last couple of weeks where they were confronted with obstacles that no amateur team should have to face.
The ladies fought valiantly to the end despite facing an uphill task possibly never encountered at that level previously.
They represented their province, their county, their club, their family and most importantly themselves in a manner that they can be so proud of. They will hopefully, with the benefit of time, look back on their achievements with a sense of fondness and pride. Well done ladies on an amazing achievement. Faugh’s Abú
Nuacht: Ar an 27ú de mhí na Samhna chuaigh foireann na mban Faughs go Baile Bhuirne (Ballyvourney),
i gceantar Gaeltachta Chontae Chorcaí (420km ó Baile na Lorgan), le cluiche leathcheannais na hÉirinn a imirt in éadan Naomh Abán. Bhí an áit lán le glas agus ór agus bhí na buachilli ‘Score Murph’ ag canadh go glórach.
Sa chéad leath bhí na cailíní ag imirt leis an ghaoth. Thosaigh siad go láidir agus go leor deiseanna acu le scór a fháil ach bhí na coinníollacha an-deacair agus ag leath ama bhí Naomh Abán 0:05 go 0:02 chun tosaigh.
Sa dara leath thosaigh mná Naomh Abán go tapa agus le deich nóiméad fágtha bhí muintir Chorcaí 0:10 go 0:03 chun tosaigh. Ach ní raibh mná Faughs críochnaithe agus fuair siad ceithre phointe i ndiaidh a chéile agus bhí comórtas iontach idir an dá fhoireann ag dul isteach in am cúitimh. Ach sna nóiméid deiridh ní raibh na Faughs ábalta an bua a fháil ar na Naomh Abán agus chríochnaigh an chluiche 0:12 go 0:07.
Cé go raibh an-díoma orainn go léir tar éis an fheadóg deiridh, sheas lucht tacaíochta Baile na Lorgan le bualadh bos a thabhairt do na cailíní agus iad ag imeacht ón pháirc, mar go bhfuil muid an-bhródúil astu.
Táim ag dul amach an doras chuig traenáil leis an fhoireann faoi 12 tar éis an nuacht seo a scríobh agus gan dabht bhí mná Bhaile na Lorgain ina inspioráid do na cailíní agus don choiste. An rud a chíonn an leanbh is é a níonn an leanbh. Comhghairdeas leo and go raibh maith agaibh as an turas. Bhí sé an-speisialta. Written by Aoibhín Nic Dónaill.
