Congratulations to our Under 18 Minor Champions!

Massive congratulations to our Under 18 girls team and management in winning the U18 Division 2 County Championship when they beat Latton 3-7 to 1-8 on Saturday last in Drumhowan. Greenfield Foods Senior Championship Football Final Result – Scotstown 1-08 Ballybay 1-11

Hard luck and commiserations to our heroic Senior Blues in their 1-11 to 1-08 defeat to a brilliant Ballybay side on Sunday last in Clones. Congratulations to Ballybay and all the best in their Ulster senior championship campaign. Well done to our Senior team and management in achieving an incredible 10th final in a row and all the best in the Senior League Final against Ballybay this Friday 21st October at 7:45pm in Castleblayney. Thanks to Clones GAA for superbly hosting the final as always. Thanks to Gary McQuaid for the following match report.

Scotstown lost out to Ballybay in the Senior Football final at Clones on Sunday. Ballybay opened the scoring in the first minute but points from Killian Mc Kenna and Ryan O’Toole had Scotstown in the lead after 14 minutes. Both teams missed some scoring chances before Ballybay then hit five points in a row and Darren Hughes pulled a point back just before half-time to leave Scotstown trailing by three at the break.

Ten minutes into the second half this lead was extended to eight points after Ballybay scored the game’s first goal and added two more points. Scotstown got back into the game with a goal when an Emmett Caulfield shot found the Ballybay keeper off his line, but Ballybay responded with two more points to lead by 1-10 to 1-3 after 19 minutes. Scotstown dug deep and had their best spell of the game, getting the margin down to three points with five minutes left, with scores from Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Conor Mc Carthy and Damien McArdle. Ballybay scored another point on 30 minutes and Mark Mc Phillips got the margin back down to three in injury time, but Scotstown tried hard to create a goal chance, but Ballybays defence held firm.

Well done to the team and management for reaching their 10th final in a row and giving their supporters another exciting season. Congratulations to Ballybay on their win.
