Seniors: The season came to a close on Saturday as our seniors fell to a 4 point defeat to a determined Aughnamullen side in Castleblayney. With Donaghmoyne having already secured 4 points and boasting a healthy score difference there was very little at stake for the Fontenoys but once the game started the competitive nature of the Donaghmoyne side was plain to be seen.

Donaghmoyne opened the scoring with a first minute point from Davy Garland but were rocked as Aughnamullen responded scoring an unanswered 1-5 in 10 minutes. The Fontenoys hit back with points from Liam McDonald and Pauric Donaghy followed by a Garland Goal to close the gap to two points. The last 10 minutes of the first half saw the sides exchanging scores with Davy Garland scoring 3 points including one outrageous effort from a side line ball, halftime score 1-8 to 1-6.

The opening exchanges of the second half were point for point with Garland scoring twice before Aughnamullen hit another purple patch moving into a 6 point lead with 10 minutes to go. Donaghmoyne hit back with a mark from Garland before Stephen Martin hit the final point of the game to leave the final score 1-14 to 1-10.

Congratulations to all the players and management on securing Senior Status for next season and hopefully we can come back in the New Year ready to build on what was a very promising 2022 campaign.
