The Boys U11 competition was a keenly contested affair with teams from Corduff, Aughnamullen, Latton and Donaghmoyne serving up some fantastic football despite the tricky conditions. The final between the home side and Aughnamullen was an end to end encounter which needed extra time to decide the winners with Donaghmoyne just edging ahead in the last minutes. Congratulations to the young Fontenoys and well done to all the teams who competed

The Girls U12 competition saw teams from Donaghmoyne, killanny, Geraldine’s and Aughnamullen battling it out for the title

With all the teams involved playing some top class football. The final was between Aughnamullen and The Geraldine’s with the Visitors from Louth finishing strongest to come from behind to take the honours. Well done to the Geraldine’s and thank you to all the competing teams for providing such an exciting morning of football.

After we have all dried off following Saturdays Conor McSkeane Memorial Tournament it’s important to remember everyone who helped in any way to make the event such a success.

Firstly we would like to acknowledge all the hard work put in by our coaches and volunteers who all helped to set up the pitches, erected the marquees and helped arrange all the cooking facilities.

We also wish to express our gratitude to all the people and clubs who made generous donations towards the event. A special word to our sponsors, The Nest Box Egg Company, Rangeland Foods who donated the burgers which were a big hit on the BBQ and Brendan McMahon of Johnston Mooney & O’Brien for donating all the burger baps.

A few new additions to this years event were the BBQ and the music, a special word of thanks to all the ladies who kept the burgers cooking and the tea and buns supplied while Barry McAllister kept everybody entertained providing the music and making all the announcements.

Lastly we would like to thank all the visiting teams and their coaches, the referees and umpires, the first aiders and everyone who helped to keep the games running despite the drop of rain.

The Conor McSkeane Memorial Tournament is always a special day for Club and the McSkeane family and continues to grow every year thanks to the hard work of Brendan, Mary and family. No doubt the plans for 2023 are already being prepared!

Recent Deaths: Donaghmoyne would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family, friends and neighbours of the late Tom Mc Mahon, Lurganboys may he rest in eternal peace.
